Anyone recommend a good one from a retailer. Also does it actually last ok?

As in for putting or just like a driving range matt?

As an idea, i was thinking of astro turfing my garden and the company sent me 3 free samples, only about 12"x18" but enough for a small matt to play off if thats what you want!

We have artificial grass in the back garden as we have a large Newfoundland dog and he wrecked the grass. The artificial grass has been down two years with no issues even with 14 stone of dog running round it

Good to know.

Im looking for thick stuff for chipping and pitching on.

Last time I bought faux grass was around 1990, pretty sure it was mixed herbs but couldn't be sure.

ask your local range for an old matt they have replaced, should be cheaper and built for golf.

so do we:thup: we had two but only 1 now and she's on her last legs the wee(big) soul, isn't easy helping a Newfey stand up when riddled with arthritus and age.

Once you've had a Newfey everything else is just a dog!

I've had artificial turf in my back garden for around 7 years now , because our new dog thought she was a rabbit or a miner. It's easy maintained just a brush or i have actually vacuumed it , and you can hit irons off it all day long without damaging it.

I got mine supplied and fitted by a firm in Stirling, let me know if you want contact details.View attachment 11462

I'm about to lay mine tomorrow and I had it in the old house. Both lots have been bought of ebay and have been great lawns. I have heard of some garden grasses being used for golf iron shots and that it's worn through quite quickly. I assume the makers say that grass especially for golf is tougher, so they can charge you more. I've hot balls of my old lawn but can't say if it would be durable or not.

If you google artificial grass loads of companies come up some have sports sections to their websites.

i bought an old mat from my local range, it was still in excellent condition
