Do they hinder you, stop you playing or do you just play through the pain..?
2 dodgy knees - 1 of which could need replacing in 5-10 years - and an even dodgier ankle - shattered 9 years ago and regained about 70% mobility - mean any more than 27 holes in a day and I need 2-3 days to recover. They don't hinder the swing but can make the walking uncomfortable.
Slight tweaks, aches and pains are getting more frequent but I just play on.

Anyone else suffering..?

Ive just started a thread here.. http://forums.golf-monthly.co.uk/showthread.php?59664-Playing-with-back-problems
Hopefully can get sorted with just a bit of physio rather than op this time. Played 9 hole tonight and its not too bad but the mornings are the worst, plus ive a comp saturday and im a 8.10am starter

didn't want to ignore your thread but will post here now that others have..

Bad back (twisted ala Mcilroy and hurt it, some days it's literally a killer) :(
bad left wrist (split a tendon arm wrestling)
bad shoulder (fell over on golf course)
bad left knee (fell over on golf course - it was the same fall, I'm not that stupid!)

Apart from that I'm nearly fit :p

My knees have been giving me awful trouble since my 2 Achilles Ruptures..... And the 28 years of playing football hasnt helped either id say.... I thought i was doing the right thing carrying my bag since last year after the 2nd rupture to try ad build the muscle back up again...... But my knees are getting progressively worse over the round..... I used to get all 18 in without much pain.... Lately im getting through 14 and then there giving i so iv reverted back to my Hill Billy Terrain..... As much as i hate giving in to it i have no choice....

Im blaming the 14 weeks spent on crutches and carrying a cast around on the other leg.... 13 stone is a lot of load to be going through joints on one side of the body....

All the time. Years of being overweight (doing much better now though) have taken its toll on the knees and back, as did all those hundreds and hundreds of overs bowled. Pulled both calves, both hamstrings and groin at various times through rugby and cricket. Shoulders are fairly knackered too.

And not even 30 yet.... It's fun playing sport.

Left knee is buggered. If it is worse than normal I have real trouble transferring weight to the left side resulting in a dramatic increase in fat shots.

H'mm...
Lefty Side:
Dodgy Achilles Tendon (Tennis)
Iffy Ankle (Broken Ankle skidding down bank of bunker)
Strange meandering pain in foot.
Broken Kneecap * 2 (ice skating, hockey)
Iffy ACL (hockey * 2)
Peculiar wandering nerve in hip (hockey/tennis)
misaligned Pelvis (left forward and lower than right)
Occasional Sciatica
Extra/extended Lumbar disc - that wants to attach itself to the pelvis!

Central
Iffy Cervical Spine movement - not helped by m/cycle and car accidents.

Right:

Dodgy ACL (hockey).

Chiropractor once stated there was '6 months work' involved to straighten a few things out.

No problem sleeping after 36 holes
Trouble getting up and walking the following day though!

Being a lazy old git doesn't help either, but I still carry!

the back surgery started over 15 years ago, no working calf muscles (and a lot of other leg ones both functional and receptional) and almost no flexibility in back or upper legs - spent the last 3 weeks working through a new disc that's decided it's time it made it's prescence known and just started swinging a short club gently again in the last couple of days having come back off the meds - not smart to mask back related pain and mix with exercise IMO; that's how you end up in the mess I'm in!

bought a fishing rod on ebay last week - just can't sit for hours though so that's not going to be an answer either!

(oh - and 36 holes is just a memory nowadays!)

Seriously Ian :) Perfect model of health and fitness me

Too many years of rugby and cricket taken their toll on me. The recurrent problem is the left knee, technical term is its shot to bits. More recent additions have been the ruptured calf, elbow bursitis and currently fighting a trapped nerve at the base of the neck (can nearly hit 3/4 shots lol). No doubt be something new next month too, and if this is how it is in my 30s, I darent think what the 40s will bring

Right knee - repaired 18 months ago but still not right.
Both shoulders - one has been dislocated twice and the other one once, both now crack when I rotate my shoulders.
Lower back - muscle damage from falling on a glass bottle when I was 14.
Neck - too many off road motorcycle accidents
Toes - ingrowing toe nail on my left big toe.

That's it I think. Painkillers when needed or a soak in a hot bath after a tough round does the trick most of the time.

Tennis elbow now in both arms
Bad back, slipped disk (twice now, same disk )
Bad neck, born with a fussed vertebrae
Pain in left foot, broke a few bones 8-9 yrs ago in Oz learning to surf and not seeing the rocks.

Apart from that I'm fit as a fiddle

I'm probably in the best shape now since my early 20's, having lost 2 stone
But in the past I've had right knee cartlidge and ACL operations, back operation for a prolapsed disc and have a dodgy heart valve that isn't giving me any symptoms....yet
Fingers crossed the current situation lasts a long time

Seriously Bro, with your knees and ankles you really should be trying to shed some bulk
In fact you may not get the surgical treatment unless you do :(

Fit as a fiddle me, not an ache or pain!

Actually in view of further postings I am fit as a fiddle with only.

Both hips replaced in the last 3 years

Left knee reconstructed after ACL damaged

Tonsils removed at 44 years old -now that did hurt but doesn't stop me talking!

Ankles and back hurt after playing and lasts about a day
