Few months down the line from my experiment with 1/2" long 2 deg upright, albeit on 7 or 8 year old clubs, with SL S300s

Noticing the off the rack 588 TTs have almost the same length and lie set up.

They seem to sit between "game improvement" and "players", but with an even lighter stock shaft.

Not tried these particular ones, but the tendency over the last few years has been to increase shaft length, with the consequent need for a changed lie too. This has all been part of the quest for greater length - which will work with robot testing!

I'm a short-ass, but have been using +.5 for quite a while now (no change of lie) with no issues. I believe, I've simply adjusted my stance, but will get the lie angles checked soon.

Qbduncan - may I ask how tall you are? They already seemed quite long and upright! Which shaft did you go for also?

Cheers

Iain your mailbox is full...

I'm actually 6 foot five so very tall. Shaft length isn't anything to do with height though. It's to do with how far your arms are from the ground. When you get fitted they measure this length first to check shaft length.

I also play off 11 and generally swing around 80mph so have regular shafts.

I have 5-p TT and my four iron is MT.

I have thought about getting a new four iron as a TT and also thought about getting a 3 iron MT. The MT is possibly too easy to hit flight is crazy. Great for winter.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Duncan

I also play the TT's i have 3 down to PW (although the 3 is being benched for an adams hybrid at the minute.) Can't remember my exact loft and lie but had them altered for me and also a small range of shafts at the time (went with the Nippon NS Pro 950GH). I'm only 5ft8 but pretty sure they werent cut down for me.

Swindon is quite local to me, am guessing it was Tony V. If so, see wet bank holiday post above :(

Thanks for replying though

Hi IainP,

I've got a set and after a few lessons that have sorted out some swing issues I'm playing really well with them and have come down from 22 to 19 since March and am a lot more consistent than previously. They have a decent flight and feel nice off of the forged face!

5ft 8............. Is that wearing your Cuban heels.

I've started using the 588TT's this year and absolutely love'em.. I picked up a standard stiff shafted set from fleabay for less than £150 inc postage.. Absolutely mint condition as well.

I've made no adjustments to them and they play really well. I am tempted to add another 1/4" to the shaft as I'm 6'3", but it would purely be me fiddling rather than an absolute necessity..

After some faffing about I chickened out of an internet purchase, found that ABgolf not to far from me (& team that did a GM Adams fitting a couple of years back) had the fitting cart still.
The standard shaft seemed fine, but with Nippon on no up charge have gone for them.
Did I need new clubs, not really, but if there is one thing the forum has taught me....!
Mention for golfworx also, who were quick and helpful with info.

Cheers for the replies on this thread.

Just purchased a set of these today myself , from golfworx at Boldon Golf Club, Tyne & Wear. ( mentioned by somebody earlier too )

Bought a combo set for my teenage son
MT model in 5 & 6 irons
TT model in 7 - PW
Great looking clubs at a crazy low price for the quality they are.

The clubs are already approx 1/4" longer than standard length, (if there's such a thing)...........or at least when compared to Titleist standard lengths anyway..........
