Anyone Played Thier Pro?

I have been having lessons with a pro and the results have been good and as well as being a good teacher he is nice guy. I invited him out for a social round and I was shocked to hear that he had not played a social round this year. Me and two of my regular playing partners are playing a fourball matchplay match with him tomorrow at Sundridge Park and I am not sure what expect? I know he is taking it seriously as he has been practicing. I find unusual that he has not played social golf with anyone else or is it not the done thing inviting your teaching pro out for a round? Been keen to hear if anyone else has played against thier teaching pro?

Play friendly knock ups with one of our pros and also one of the assistants who has moved on to another club

Had a few rounds with the head Pro as well.

Plus play in regular Pro Am's

our club has captain / pro matches pretty much ever non comp weekend day where two members take on the cap / pro in a 4 ball better ball.

our pro more or less fluffed his drive off the 1st and hit a tree with his drive off the second and i'd say probably shot around +4 during the round.

he didn't do anything spectacular like hole loads of ten footers or blast it 300 yds off the tee, other than the first couple of holes he just didn't really make any kind of a mistake that i can remember.

they lost our match though because he didn't birdie enough to beat our pars where we were getting shots.

Played with our pro at the lombard trophy last year. very steady off the tee, good wedge approaches and solid putter.

When played well and got to -9 with him off scratch and me off 5. No dropped shots. -13under won it.

I for one haven't. Liek you, I was shocked when my pro told me he can't remember the last time he played 'regular' golf.

I have played social golf with all our pros, tend to think of them as mates now and have done for a long time.

i suppose it depends on the pro.

the guys i get lessons from plays reg ish once or twice a month, never played golf with him, though we have talked about it. He is giving lessons pretty much every day, so not much time.

The pro at my club, had good amateur career and played on the European tour. i think he has played twice this year in two club matches. I don't think he is that keen on playing anymore.

Our head pro joins our Saturday roll up during the winter. Loves handing out the abuse and takes his fare share too.

We don't have a pro at our course, but I have played in a Pro-Am and had a social round with a EuroPro Tour player. Both were educations for me in course management.
I get lessons from a local driving range based pro, and on the 2016 agenda are some on course lessons and social golf with him.
Great to pick these guys brains on the course and build up a social rapport which will hopefully only enhance future lessons.

played a game against our pro one evening ,it was supposed to be a 4BBB matchplay game for third place for our pairs ko cup.the oppos didnt show so George said he would come and play with my pp and self.we played a three way singles knock up ,George was a little put out that i was level gross with him for the first five holes ,[both level par gross] as i was off 16 at the time .ended up beating him 4&3.

wheni first took up the game the assistant pro was a school mate ,we played together nearly every day .

Our pro and his assistant regularly turn out in the fiddle and our assistant joined me and my nephew for a round Tuesday afternoon.

Played with one of the pros at our place recently and was quite disappointed. Couple of thinned shots, missed greens with chips etc, certainly did nothing spectacular. I guess it all came down to his superior course management as to why he's able to shoot so low. He told me he hadn't actually played a round of golf in nearly 12 months as he was busy either giving lessons or in the shop.

Played 18 with our Pro on Sunday and have played a few pro-ams in the past and thanks to GM played with Reeve Whiston at Royal County Down on the Galvin Green Fitting Day.

I get on really with our pro and just see playing with as playing with a mate, he is a good golfer but nothing spectacular, he hit a few snap hooks off the tee and 3 putted 4 greens if I remember correctly, His ability to get out of trouble was amazing though. On our tenth (supposedly the hardest par 4 in Ireland (don't quote me on that)) he drove into a bunker and promptly proceeded to knock a 7 iron stone dead onto the middle of a raised green from 170 yards.

Reeve really impressed me, his length off the tee and his ball striking was something else, now that kid can play golf.

Like post #3 ours has regular captain/pro challenges against another pair in 4bbb challenge - pretty much every Sunday. Played him twice and currently I'm 2-nil up.

And although I don't go, there's a couple of time a year when he & varying group of members go off on a golf trip - usually to Hilton Head in South (??) Carolina.

Yep, he's a nice guy. Not a big hitter but very steady with all aspects of his game.

I've only played with my head pro for 8 holes just before I joined, I've also played with both my assistant pros for 9 holes each, that was because just as I returned from injury I was short of a partner for my 1st comp so each assistant pro did 9 holes with me to mark my card, excellent support & service :thup:

The head pro? No...never. Wouldn't fancy it either. One of the assistants? Yup, played a few times. The pro that actually teaches me...all the time as we are good friends

Used to, and off level. Won more than I lost. Played quite a few in the local league too. Similar results. Mind you, when I came up against the good ones I got absolutely mullered.
