Off to the Algarve 18th June for 5 nights in a party of 14 and I am in the middle of trying to tie up the golf rounds part of it.
We have rounds secured for Fri afternoon at Pinta and early Sat at Gramacho (lions game 2.00pm k.o.so that's why we are heading out early as some wish to see the game),feel we have got a decent deal ot 95E with buggies for the 2,day off Sunday although some of the more 'golfer golfers'will no doubt book themselves 18 somewhere on spec (not me!)Monday at the moment has nothing booked and Tuesday we have a game booked at Pinheiros Altos before we fly home, got a good deal there of 50E as mate is Head Pro there.

So at the moment we are looking Monday options as Penina at 60E-played there several times so don't need advice there,Palmares at 45E but been told they are starting work on a new 9 holes and there will be significant disruption to the 18 holes so that's out, shame as I love it there,Morgado at 45E was looking the favourite until we were told hollowcoring starts 20th....

So I am now looking at Quinta da Ria/Cima or Castro Marim along toward the Spanish border both of which look good and within the price we want to be paying so wondered if they are worth the 1hour drive along to play? Castro Marim from their website certainly looks very interesting....anyone give me a review of either/both...??

but vale da lobo is one of the best courses in Portugal !!!

I havent been personally to any of them, however my brother organises a trip to the Algarve every year and every year for the past 5 years they have played at Castro Marim, he swears by the place and insists that, alongside the Old Course at Villamoura it is one of the best tracks over there.

err what one is close to the harbor ? i stayed at that hotel in the harbor the 5 star one and it was the closest one to that cant remember the name

I have played quinta da ria and castro marim this year and i thought both were very good and i would play them again of the two i would favour castro marim. You would'nt be disapointed with either of them. Seve's course is over that way and that one is fantastic, play it now while it is cheap because in a few years time it will be very expensive once all the developments have been finished.

At Castro Marim did you play the original 18 or did you play the new 9 holes in your round, looks lovely course on the video on the website,is it really hilly or not too bad?
