Anyone played Rusper GC

Not played it myself but a couple of lads i play with at the weekend have played there in their society for the past couple of years. They say its a very tricky tight course but in good condition, play with your head and position off the tee is the best way to score.
The guy who runs the pro shop also cuts the greens, cooks the food and serves behind the bar!
Hope you enjoy it

Let me know what it's like plz... I'm thinking of joining there

A bit tight for you, isn't it James??? ;);):D

Reading the reviews on UK Golf Guide http://www.ukgolfguide.com/rusper-golf-club it reads well. Mostly complimentary reviews, written by people who have actually paid their money to play there. Very encouraging. But to a man, they all comment on how tight it is, with the constant sound of balls ricocheting off of trees!!
Let me know if you do decide to join or are going over there for a game.
I'll keep you company
:o

Is a cracking course, one of my favs that's hidden away so doesn't get too busy. Is also right under the gat wick flight path so you get to see the underside of plenty of jets coming in to land!

As said starts easy, 1st is drivable. I played there last weekend and was still quite soggy under foot in places so keep an eye out for plugged balls in the fairways and rough. Once you get through 5 it is much more tree lined but no rough when in the trees so can find your ball, just need to take your medicine when you have to.
There are some cracking holes, which off the back tees would make even a very good golfer have to play well to score. Any members that hold a decent handicap there must be very good on other courses, as it can be that tough if you don't play it sensibly. The SI1 is a beast of a hole, and the approach into a tiny green needs to be spot on!

It's a great test so go and enjoy!

The only thing that really lets it down is the social side of the clubhouse and pro shop. The range is ok and has a short game area round the back, however as mentioned they're are only a couple of green keepers that look after the place who do a good job considering. If you want to get good and I mean really good, playing here regularly will make you (or break you) as a proper player.

If I was more local it would be my go to place to play.

Well, played there today and both myself and playing partner struggled. it is exactly as the reviews say but not as tight as I imagined. My driving is a strong point and had no problem with the trees apart from one hole I went in but still had a shot. SI1 14th as mentioned above is the signature hole and I went driver, 6 iron to green and then 3 putted! My downfall today was the very very soft ground and im a digger so was taking huge lumps out of the ground! My putter was also a very naughty boy today and after starting birdie on the first after nearly driving the green and then two pars I had a run of nine bogeys and my enthusiasm and energy was depleted. All in all a nice course and we both came away saying that we are definitely coming back when the weathers better.
