It is a brilliant test of golf tight fairways fast greens penal bunkers and a beautiful looking golf course

Because I won 3 tickets at a Corporate Evenet last night to play there. All I had to do was put my name on a £10 note and it was drawn out (65 notes in there!).
£10 for 3 people to play at Royal Birkdale, normally costing £165 each
I'm in golfing heaven 
Ironically i played absoluteley gash on the day

I had the pleasure a couple of months ago.
You need to keep it on the short stuff as the rough, even the wispy stuff, really grabs your club.
You also need to think your way around as even if you are on the fairway, the approach to some of the greens is testing if you are out of position.
Superb track though.

I used to play Birkdale free 2 times a year at least in Scratch matches.
Hillside and Formby were also in our league so as scratch team players for Southport and Ainsdale we were very lucky.
Royal Birkdale rightfully takes its place in the top 25 in the world as a test of golf,layout,history and tradition.
You will not regret your visit there!!!

I'm having to fight'em off with a pooey stick at the moment mate
I'm really looking forward to it, to test yourself on one of the best courses in the world is about as good as it gets.I just cant (well i can) beleive how up and down with my scores I am at the moment, shooting Net -2 on Saturday and +6 on Sunday, then Net +14 on Tuesday
Although I am really stroking the ball well......funny game this golf.

Played there in 2007,2008 just after the 2008 open,Fantastic in 2007,The course in 2008 was out of this world we had a perfect day with no wind,Shot 35 points stableford off 14 h/cap,to get to Turnberry in the qualifier for the finals in the BMW Cup,My claim to fame that day was to eagle the 18th 3wood,5 wood and one putt.Even got praise from Ronan Rafferty on my 20 points back 9. 
You really have to think about course management on some of the holes on this course its not always a driver or 3 wood off the tee,this applies to the 5th and 10th &11th hope you enjoy your day a fantastic course to play.
