Many moons ago - as I recall, it was OK but not brilliant. Some of it was under construction and the 18th is a quirky drive over water to an uphill fairway. Overall, I'd give it 6/10.
I played there in a society a couple of years ago with about 20 of us. Played singles in the morning (in groups of four) and Texas scramble in the afternoon.
It was a lovely course, very friendly and welcoming and I would definitely go back.
Will be interested to know what you thought of it.
I have played it a few times. I used to very much like the course but recently they sold a lot of land for housing and changed the layout. In my opinion the sold the land where their best holes were.
I considered joining there as it's only a 5min drive from my house, but the changes to the course put me off.
Played it in a jubilee cup match last year. As pointed out by other posters they sold off a lot of the land to housing so lost 6 holes. They then incorporated some of the 9 hole course into the main course so its a bit of a jumbled mess really. Still really well looked after though but if you are using a skycaddie it may well not pick up the holes as the two courses wete mapped individually. They do intend to build quite a few more holes on the other land they own so it will come good again in about 20 years!
For a society day it was excellent, really nice full english, friendly staff, decent pint of guinness, excellent 2 course dinner of steak pie and veg followed by sticky toffee pudding.
The course itself was also fine, good quality greens, great to putt on, mostly small with runoffs all around. I found the layout a bit odd, we were walking, not in buggies, and there were a couple of lengthy uphill walks between certain holes, I think due to the fact that the course is now 18 holes from the original 27.
Would I go back? Yes but not at the full price, we were given a voucher for a round for 25 quid before the end of september.
Nothing to really dislike about it, I've played much much worse in my time.
Would I want to be a member there? No. There are a couple of stand-out holes which I can remember, a downhill par 3 (7th I think??) and 17 and 18 in particular providing a memorable end to the round, however IMO the rest was fairly standard stuff.
