I'm off there Friday with work via a company we do business with. Not heard of it before, but am told it's quite a prestigious course? Could just be the organiser bigging it up. Anyone played there? What's it like?

I've played it a few times as it's about 20 miles from me. RichardC who attends quite a few forum meets was a member there.

Ok, my opinion. It a decent members course, well maintained etc etc. I wouldn't put it anywhere near the Blackmoor, or a West Hill bracket though. The course starts with a ping to a short par 3 and then continues for a fair few doglegs where it's important to know where to aim but, unfortunately for a first time player, it's hard to guess the line and with a fair few trees it's easy to get out of position.

The greens have been ok whenever I've played it and the hospitality, club house and the pro were very welcoming. A word of warning, when playing the 10th, the fairway goes over a hill and between two trees. A decent player really only needs a 4 or 5 iron between the trees as a driver looks the shot, but can be far too much club. The other difficult one is the 2nd as there is oob on the right of a blind drive, but, so long as you don't go too far right that's the line and not left towards the trees as I've done before.

I hope you enjoy it Adam

I appreciate the heads up! Glad to hear it's a good course - the way the organiser has built it up does put it in the West Hill category, but as long as it's good I'm happy!
