Woo hoo. Summer's on its way. Just got our cottage booked for a week's stay in Anstruther, Fife. A week solid golf. Any suggestions as to where to play?

Can't do the Old Course because of the Open and can't afford Kingsbarns. Have done the main courses at St Andrew's links, Scotscraig and Crail, but most else is up for grabs.

Can't wait - it's only 5 months....

if i were going to the home of golf i would want to play links golf, and as the other St Andrews Links trust course are out i would try;

Leven, Lundin or cross the bridge into Angus and try Carnoustie, Monifieth etc.

I'd be looking at Lundin, Ladybank and Elie as I've heard great things about them. If looking for decent test at a reasonable price then check Drumoig out, they do some cracking offers. The Torrance and Kittocks at St Andrews Bay are also normally good and often offers. Biggest problem will be the time your going, most places will be charging top rate and selling easily

I think we'll need to do a mix. Two of us are links nuts, while the other two are parkies. All suggestions welcomed especially anything one might call "lesser known" names.

Not played it myself but a group of pals did last year and they all raved about it.

It's worth a wee trip for sure, the 9th and 10th aren't for the faint hearted, you have fairway with water both left and right!! I've not been for a while but used to play at least once every winter, last deal was crazy, something like £80 a fourball inc buggies.

Go over to Dundee and play Downfield at that time of year it will be in great knick, Drumoig is ok bit of a slog to be honest the range is class tho. Lundin Links and Leven Links are not far away as is Elie. Im sure Scotscraig will be doing a 4 ball twilight rate. its a pity there are 4 of you as i could have played with you

+1 on Downfield (Dundee), better than Ladybank for me.

Think it was 2012 when we stayed between Dundee & Perth. Played Downfield in the heaviest rain we ever experienced in scotland. Had to walk in as course started flooding and greens became unplayable. Not the courses fault - just never seen rain like it.

Carnoustie could be our "treat day" perhaps. Only played the Budden course so far.

Carnoustie is well worth it.

Pitlochry. Alyth. Blairgowrie (Rosemount). Carnoustie (one round on the Burnside to warm up and then play the Championship). Scotscraig. Panmure. Ladybank.
That would be my weeks golf sorted
;)

With over a hundred to choose from in a hours drive why not just for fun stick a sub £20 muni course in midweek on a 5 club challenge just to make you appreciate the other courses a bit more, you just might uncover a hidden gem

Alyth GC.

Lovely course, with some super holes. Good greens if I remember correctly.

Panmure GC

First couple of holes are a bit "meh" but then it gets very interesting
;)

Alyth is a fantastic course and the greens there are always spot on, Panmure is a good track but expensive but the good thing its not over played as the members tend to play early morning and the course is empty normally after 10am.
