Anyone know what a Ryder cup vice captain does?

There's 5 this time (+ Paul) so that's one for every two players. Seems a little heavy!

So with a couple of weeks to go, what do they actually do (as its clearly not the 2 year build up stuff)

Anyone with any insight?

Judging by previous years, they follow certain matches in a buggy and radio the results back to captain.

I think it's a consolation prize for not getting picked

There's a serious amount of 'team building', bonding and general molly-coddling involved too!

All with the plan to produce a 'winning' team.

From Football, it should be obvious that a happy team is more likely to be a winning one! I would have said 'united' but that was/(is) the obvious example of what happens with an unhappy/(unfocused/confused) team.

Still think one per pair is very heavy for team building/reporting scores and while not suggesting some are on a jolly, I think some are on a jolly :D

Doubtless work will be created for them though

5 sets of eyes are better then one and a lot more info on how things are going can be fed back to the captain by them who have played in Ryder cup , yes in some ways its jobs for the boys but i am sure they rather be playing . Only faldo and ollie and his son thats why he lost
