anyone here play ASHFORD golf club?

Nope but Ive driving past it every day for the past week so would like to know what people think of it. Might try sneak a game in when the job is complete.

Really liked it when i played it last summer, good condition and good greens. Lovely to look at course as well with high trees and moderate evelation changes. Stand out holes where the 5th a short par 3 (130ish?) but well protected with 2 bunkers left and a stream right. I also liked the 13th a short downhill par 4 however for the first 80 yards or so there is only a 20/25 yard gap between the trees either side, it doglegs left as well. playing partner took 5 off the tee.

Overall a must play in the local area

yeah really nice course, mixture of long par 4's and short birdieable ones, also a really hard hole to finish with, any members here?

As Richard says it's my home course and I think its one of the best in the area. It's the sort of course that people think that they can tear apart but they never do. There isn't a hole that is easy and most fairways are tree lined and tight. The greens are small, like most 100 year old courses have and we play off the back white tees whenever we want. We dont have tee times other than for comps but visitors can, as from last week, can book online with what they call an indicative tee time - that means members who roll up can still go off as they please but a green fee will get to go off like they were a member.

Downsides are that the M20 motorway runs very close by and can be pretty noisy and there are barely any practice facilities other than a short pitching area and putting green. The clubhouse is ok and the catering is pretty good. There is now a much better web site on www.ashfordgolfclub.co.uk and is worth a look.

All in all I have been a member for about 13 years and whilst I enjoy games here, there and everywhere I am always happy to play Ashford and feel that it holds it's own with any other member course.

Why are you asking Mini?

I also think it's a 'must play' in the area.

Classic parkland course that makes the best of the terrain and, when the greens are in condition, and the pins well placed, both challenging and rewarding.

You must have parred the 5th as you forget the 3rd bunker on the left and the pond in front - can be a card wrecker even as early as the 5th hole!

Yeah, even though it might be a flick with a 9 iron/ wedge it certainly isn't straight forward, especially when the pin is at the back of the green 6 yards away from the ditch...
