Hi

I am looking to upgrade my Skycaddie. I have thought about the SG5 or the SGX but i have seen the Sonocaddie V300. It is colour and has all the courses i need with no subscription BUT i dont know much about them.

Anyone got one, if so any views would be appreciated ;)

I have one and cant fault them.
Better and cheaper than Skycaddie IMO.

Thanks. What makes them better than a Skycaddie (other than the obvious no subscription)

Is the display as good as it looks.

Kind regards

They are smaller overall but have a bigger screen. Easy to read in all light. Easy buttons
As you say, no yearly subs or download charges.
Overall hole view or just green closeup. plus all the extras
And a good chunky feel
All for around £250

Here's mine showing it's cool laser

Disclaimer...
This does NOT have a cool laser :)

I was looking at these and they do seem pretty good and I'd definitely have them top of my list if I move away from my SC. I doubt I'll be upgrading to the SGX especially at that price plus subscription

Great bit of kit the other features that I like are that it keeps your scores and does a analysis, greens in reg, firways hit, putts per round and if the course is altered no need to wait for someone to come out and check the course, you can do it yourself and the other thing if the course has not be mapped you can do it your self putting in bunkers, water hazards, OB,Hills, traps, creeks, trees, doglegs both left and right and layup.Much better than the skycaddie

Another vote for the Sonocaddie. The recent reviews in GM have shown a clear bias towards SkyCaddie as the 'cons' for the Sonocaddie were ridiculous.

Every feature you could want on a GPS, easy to edit courses, no subscription fees (although you can pay a small amount for international coverage if you like), great stats and tracking (I particularly enjoy replaying my round on the screen after the game!) and very, very easy to use.

And on top of all that, fantastic customer service. I've had a few causes to contact them about unmapped courses and an error on my home course and on both occasions, they have responded quickly, efficiently and politely. I understand that others are not as helpful...

There is also the Autoplay model which has all the courses pre-loaded but you lose the overhead hole map which swung it for me.

Get it and enjoy hitting more greens!

Hi

Thanks to all of you who have replied. I was looking at the Skycaddie SGX but i am fed up with paying subscriptions. I also play a few different courses each year so the overhead view would be helpful. I was a little put off by the fact they map fron satellite images but i dont think i am good enough to worry about the odd few yards either way.

I am now going to do some internet research and having got the lowest price haggle with my local direct golf. :D
