anyone fancy either a round or a night at a range before the scottish forum day?

I'm in glasgow

Not sure wither to go to the forum day, still a newbie and don't want to hold other players up.

What you think?

Where do you play in Glasgow?

World of golf is the best range in the Glasgow area in my opinion.

I used to enjoy Mugdock moor but I noticed a little neglect there some yrs ago dont know what its like now but its pretty up there.

Used to go down the road to Greenock, lovely on a nice day.

I join blairbeth golf course

Out in the east of glasgow so hamiltion and blantyre golf range are my 2 local ones

where is the world of golf range?

Blairbeth, played there when one of my mates was a member, not the friendliest of locals around there!

World of Golf is out west side of town Drumchapel way.

lol

so I have been told

the course borders quite a bad area at a few of the holes

laffs...nothing like running the gauntlet while playing golf

Been shot at with an air rifle when trying to play the 13th. Makes you not concentrate on your putt, you just want to get off the green alive.

mmm sooooo glasgow init

oh well better invest in a bullet proof vest

glad you made it off 13th

makes mental note to never play 13th hole on any course and especially not on her own course ;-)

Where's Glasgow? come to think of it.....where is Crowborough Beacon?

Does good stuff not happen in the 350 miles in between?

I think I need to move....

I play at Gourock, but have played Greenock a few times.

Greenock used to be really bad for being shot at with air rifles, and interupting the locals from doing their flittings across the course. Seen a settee being carried on two guys shoulders across the fairway when waiting to hit.

A lot better now the flats that overlooked the course have been pulled down.

World of Golf is ok, pricey I think for what you get. I've just joined the Sport Scotland Centre in Largs for the winter, £70 from Oct to March.

Hitting off turf with 6 defined holes, greens, bunkers and driving bays as well. Hard to beat.

Andy.

Last time I was at Largs Paul McGinlay was in the next bay and a nicer man I could not have met. Spoke to me, gave me his glove and offered a couple of bits of advice on how to practice and warm up.

Twenty minutes later Bob Torrance turned up and it was a joy to watch and listen too.

(I then went to collect my balls and somehow managed to end up with about 30 Taylor Made Red balls in my Practice bag, dont know how that happened, although I'm sure they appreciated the top flites and donneys I left in their place!!!) Ooooops!

Been on courses at the Largs facility several times. The practice area is superb. If I lived localy I would definately be signed up for it.

As thecraw says, Bob Torrance uses the place. Several tour players have used the place over the years. Last time I looked in on it, it was looking like it needed a bit of work done to it. There used to be good greens ther. USGA spec on a practice ground !

The coaching staff the centre used were good teaching pros. I learned a lot there.
