Anyone from the South familiar with or play at Beaconsfield. I ask because when I was very young I used to walk the course with my dad when he played (well before I ever picked up a club). Anyway, he is being given and OBE in May and we are spending a few days down South so I was thinking of trying to arrange a round as a bit of a special day out and re-live some old memories.

If anyone can let me know whether it is (or ever was bearing in mind that I had no idea about golf at the time) a decent course and whether they allow non members on the course would be useful.

Yes it's a good course and worth a visit - I think they only do weekdays and no idea what it costs. They are very traditional and I expect if you write a letter to the Secretary with the story they do something for you....

The formal title is services to further education but he has spent the last few years on the learning and skills council which works in various areas including adult education etc.

There are only 2 ceremonies left this year and Kylie has not got hers yet so heres hoping that she is at the Palace at the same day as my dad (and me as well)
