Has anyone purposefully changed their driver angle of attack from negative to positive? How did you go about it and did it make a lasting change to strike, distance and/or accuracy?

Yep. Makes a massive difference to distance.

One of the key things I do is feel like my weight is 60/40 to the right side at address with my left shoulder above my right. Something I worked on hard with my coach, and something Justin Rose often talked about.

Sergio and Fitzpatrick are in a group of few that hit there driver with a negative AoA on tour

I've tried and find it very difficult to do. Even with a pro and trackman watching my every move I struggled to deliver a positive angle of attack.
While I believe solving this would help lengthen and maybe straighten my drives a little, there are other aspects of my game which are in bigger need of help than my driving so my attention is there at the moment.

Yes! Just teed it higher - from Yellow Castle to 'higher than orange/grey'. Swing felt much less forced - previously ll swings were like hitting irons. Distance increased because less spin. Ball went straighter. Didn't really notice difference in quality of strike.

Right here my man!

How? Stopped my lateral move (head moving) forward on the downswing.

The ball launched much higher and flies a little further (I'm guessing as it has less spin?).

When I spec'd my new driver it was suggested, in conjunction with the change in shaft, that I drop from 10.5° to 9°. This change see's a very slight reduction in peak height still with an overall increase in carry distance.

Accuracy is about the same if I'm honest.

I now feel I can ' Go after' a driver without the fear of roofing it :D

Same as the above. I have managed to change my AoA and gain good distance. Tee it highr (blue wooden tee instead of yellow) right shoulder lower and better plane. All done with the pro during this winter.

Got a trackman lesson next week with this purpose in mind. I'm definitely chopping down on my driver, getting my head in front of the ball and falling away off balance.

Haven't been measured, but I'm quite sure I have huge spin numbers due to having decent dynamic loft, but major neg angles of attack (the difference between the two, I understand, is what equals [in most part] spin).

So the aim is to attempt to neutralise my AoA (praying I can get to positive figures), then if my dynamic loft increases, as videos allude to, crank my driver loft down a bit to compensate somewhat.

Yes I was very steep with all clubs taking big divots. Low ball flight and bit hooky

Pro sorted me out I now hit it higher and more pure. Increasing in distance also.
Tip he gave me was practice off a slope and your divots will get shallower

Yup, one lesson and I went from an OTT swing, negative angle of attack and spin over 4,000rpm, to a swing that came from the inside, positive angle of attack and spin down to around 2,600rpm

Only problem is that a day after that lesson I managed to injure my back playing badminton and haven't been able to swing a club since so I am having to constantly think about the things we worked on during that lesson so I don't forget what I was doing

Move the ball well forward and tee it up.

Simple fix is stick a ball sleve in front of the tee and simply swing to miss it as u hit and follow through. Kind of like a aoa head cover drill. Forget mechanics.miss the box.

The ball doesn't know that. Give it a try.

World number one has a chicken wing. I'm not entirely convinced it's the worst thing in the world. Unlikely to lose it left.

This is actually one of the few things I can actively influence in my swing. For a positive angle of attack and higher ballflight I tilt my spine a bit more away from target and tee the ball up a tiny bit higher and more forward. If I want to keep the ball low against the wind, I reduce the tilt and tee up lower and more inside of my left heel.

What's the best drill you have found to stop this?

Setting up with my driver with the weight more on the back foot and trying to stay behind the ball at impact. I'm launching it much higher now which is great except the ball is plugging on sodden fairways. Better though than my lower flight before which was getting little run so I'm a few yards longer

This is an area I'm currently working on, and have been to the range today. Some good advice on here, but what seems to work for me is:-
1. Tee the ball well forward, opposite my left foot before flaring it out.
2. Adopt a wider stance
3. Tilt my spine away from the target, not just the top section of the chest but right from the bottom. I like to imagine my spine really pointing down through my left hip.
4. Ensure chest is square, don't let it become closed.
5. Focus on maintaining that tilt right through the swing.

This seemed to make a difference at the range yesterday. Looking forward to my lesson- need to put the work in this year.

My AoA has been measured a couple of times at being neg 5 degrees with the driver. I need to play the ball more forward in my stance and tee the ball up a little higher as illustrated in this video.

Thanks for posting, it's a good reminder for me to do that.
