Personally, I couldn't care less about the presidential race in america. I'm glad it's over so eventually we see less of the coverage.

What is annoying me though, is given the size and potential of both channels, why is the news just a running loop every 15 -20 minutes of the same **** no one actually really cares two hoots about.

Given EVERYTHING that is happening all over the world you'd think they could fill the day without repeating a storey, let alone struggle for an hour.

I'd much rather listen to storeys about this country yet I feel as though I live in America everytime I turn SKY news on.

Cant just be me that feels the need for a new channel?

Sick of the BBC and it's political agenda.

They force people to pay a TV license, they should say neutral politically.

They were just as bad as American CNN and other main stream media with their liberal agenda and Trump is the devil narrative.

Sky News and BBC 24 news are my default or go to channels as soon as I switch on tv, go to Sky news first but if there's ads I'll change to BBC. Yes it can be repetitive but when it's a general election or US election its great getting instant opinion and updates imo. I like having the 24 hours news channels, generally watch them for 20 minutes, you're then caught up, then watch something else or get on with other things. Kay Burley does annoy me a bit though I have to say.

As above, either use the 'Off' button or go get your news from Loose Women or whichever other programme is more suitable for you......

"no one actually cares two hoots about"

really? pretty massive news and expect most people have some degree of interest

Sorry didn't make that abundantly clear. I just meant the stupid uninteresting stuff between the big storeys that they keep repeating over and over to fill the gaps. Like asking Trumps campaign leader 'what was the first thing he said to you' Ok, once is fine but to listen to the same drivel over and over, do people really care about that sort of stuff is that really news?

There's an off button? Really? Well, you're streets ahead of me there to be fair. Here was me stuck watching all day. Yawn.

My point is, I'm watching hoping for something decent, a good variety of content with interesting points from interesting people. Something that fills an hour at least, instead of the same stuff repeated every 15 minutes.

Given they are the biggest news channels on our TV's, surely it's not that difficult to fill an hour without repeating the same story 4 times over, is it?

24 hour news, pretty hard to fill it all 24/7 without regurgitating the same stuff a bit. Know what you mean, though, I think these channels are better to dip in and out off than watch constantly.

Prefer Sky news coverage for everything but I'm getting bored of the minute analysis of everything to do with the US election. Sadly it's not going away for a while so time to be selective in my news viewing

It's the nature of the beast. Rolling news channels are always going to be regurgitating the same stuff until something new happens. Viewers don't watch them all day, they dip in for half an hour and expect to see the news, not some light interest story filling the gaps. Breakfast TV is the same, 3 hour program but if you watch half an hour you've seen it all.

I very rarely watch the news.
Even if it comes on the radio in the car I'll turn off.
If something important happens then I may have a look but apart from that, not interested

100% with you on this, saved me a post! The BBC have proved themselves over recent months of being so biased its embarrassing.....here I am FORCED to pay them a license fee.

Yep, Sky is worse though I think. That said, you have a choice not to pay for that.

I watch the 10 o'clock or 6 o'clock news if I'm around when it's on. Otherwise I get fed up of the continual news loops.
I also hate the fact that they have to fill gaps by guessing, rather than giving us facts. "lets go to Laura Kuenssberg and see if she can imagine what's happening in the negotiations"

In my opinion the news should be about reporting facts for the viewing public to interpret in their own way. Rather than having one of their editors giving us their spin on things.

All news is opinion now days it has been like that for the last 20 or so years facts are hard to come by it is all rubbish. At least the beeb were one of the last to give up trying.
