I currently have a bag full of pro v1's thanks to the genorosity of another forum member (no, I haven't lost them all yet:D) but I was thinking with the weather changing if using a premium ball was really worth it, and I might be better off going for a cheap distance ball. Anyone else do the same?

I use the same type of ball all year. No new ones go into play over the winter, just the scuffed and used ones that aren't pristine for comps etc

Generally just use pick up balls once balls start getting lost in the middle of fairways, either under leaves or plugged, I hate to sound overly thrifty but losing a shiny new premium ball after a decent-good shot is a bit much to stomach!

i tend to just use older Prov's that have had a few rounds already or just any old ball does most of the time.

I played a few bounce games last winter with a pink Ladies ball cos it was easier to see in the frost;)

I won't use a pristine E6 which is my preferred ball so will use pretty much any of the others I like (Soft Feel, AD333, Bridgestones not E6)!

I am in a complete quandary. I usually play pro v but bought some cheap AD333 from pro shop for winter use. However I found them to feel utterly dead off the putter face. After 3 holes I went back to the pro v. Am I the only one to experience this.

so soft underfoot over winter that a Topflite will spin back with a 3 iron, so leaving the Prov's in the bag and playing Bridgestone

Vastly over-rated ball in my opinion. Soft Feel is much better....

I swap to the NXT Tour type of ball or Bridgestone RX - they don't spin as much and it means I don't get stupid amounts of backspin from a ProV type on soft greens..

The pro v1 that I am currently using has done 5 complete rounds since it was new. It's a 2013 model and is still in reasonable nick.

thats good to hear, just bought 3 dozen for next season as they appear to keep their whiteness over the older magenta white:rolleyes:
