Has anyone does this or planning to do it over the winter period?

A couple of months ago me and odvan were knocking a few balls into our 18th green. I was trying to hit a fade and he was trying to draw. Against our usual shot shapes. Both with good results.

Went to the practice area and kept this feeling going. Next day on the comp I was playing rubbish until the 13th when I holed out for a hole in 1.

Since then I decided I would pretty much try and hit all my irons with a fade. Seems to be doing the trick. At the start of the year I was hitting everything with big slingy hooks. Sometimes over doing it, sometimes getting it right. This fade shot seems much more in control.

Done quite a bit of work getting my driver to fade too. I've had to weaken my left hand grip quite a bit to get this working but starting to see some improvement in this area.

I still prefer to hit woods and hybrids with a draw but most shots now I am picturing a fade flight.

My fade swing is more than likely just an OTT swing but if it repeats and gives me the desired shape and hits target I am not that bothered.

Anyone else done similar or moved from fade to draw this year. I made similar improvements a few years ago when I went from biggest slicer in the world to stone cold hooker.

A lot of fun was had during the process.

Maybe it's just me....but I prefer to hit straight.

Ive tried that. Well beyond my capabilities. I used to think it was impossible until I watched birchy play. Still think there is some voodoo magic behind it.

Not this year but last year.
I used to fade now I have a slight draw.
The great thing about changing is I now have both in the locker if required.
One thing I do have trouble with is a big fade say 10-20 yards.
I did this all myself on the range from you-tube videos,as you say good fun but
very frustrating at times.

I have changed my shot shape from a draw to a fade, but this was not deliberate, just as a result of a set up change. I had a golf lesson where the pro pointed out that I had a rather in-to-out swing path through the ball. This would make me prone to hitting hooks and fat shots (true!). I also tended to set up with my shoulder line a bit closed which didn't exactly help. I have since been working on setting up squarely and taking the club back more along the line, which has had the effect of making my stock shot a slight fade.

I've gone from an 80 yard hook to a 40 yard hook

I am actually hitting it straighter now, don't really know how tbh. I struggle badly to hit a fade!

Nope, I've always had a draw and suspect I always will.

That said, on some shots I do hit a rather extreme fade (AKA a push/slice), but that's rarely planned:eek:

Don't be so hard on yourself. Your baby draw was a thing of beauty last week. you had the driver on a string and that 4 iron behaving very well indeed.

Hitting it well just now. I'm probably the least technically minded golfer out there about the swing, have tried to change a couple of things to hit it straighter and seem to be working. Couldn't explain why though!!

Hoping the good form carries on tomorrow morning

Used to fade and slice for England. Swing changes a few years, plus custom fit, means mainly a slight draw. However, can't fade or slice on demand - usually ends up with a big pull hook!

Told you, its voodoo magic when it goes straight. Defies physics.

Have changed mine greatly from the start of the year yes. Was hitting big draws/hooks and not able to hit it left to right at all and when I was put on trackman my path was inside to out 9 degrees on average! Having worked on this since my path tends to be between 1 and 2 degrees in to out now but I can get it to out to in if required and am now able to hit fade or draw most of the time its needed

Moved from shape unknown to starting right of target and gently drawing to straight. Pretty much done just by adding width to my swing and using my body turn more.

Started with a fade (like most) and changed to a draw. Took lots of drilling and time but it got there and was very rewarding. Always had the ability to hit a fade when needed by pushing the hands forward at address, not over complicating things with path etc. (Danny Willet taught me this, seriously :p)

Since I stopped playing club golf, ive slipped back into a fade (out to in path again). Much prefere the draw, looks better, goes slighty further. Now I naturally hit a fade, I can't draw the ball for love nor moeny, if I do, its a fluke. When the draw is the stock shot, I tend to be able to hit both at will.....almost.

I've hit a draw for a little while now, it came about a few years ago when I really had to work on dropping the club on the inside. Now, however, I think I would quite like to go to hitting a fade, but actually doing it is going to be hard work, especially as my best golf has been played playing with a draw!

I did this last year, managed to change my draw into a massive OTT slice.

Still working on trying to change it back.
