yup..played one of the courses last year. Really enjoyed it, and can be quite a thinkers course at times!

As for etiquette, it's all very similar to any other golf club

Played there a few times - the courses are ok - always prefer the higher one.

During the summer they are very good but poor drainage

The clubhouse is ok again - has a corporate feel to it.

Struggles for members and has gone through so many owners with none willing to put money into the golf course.

Did I read on Wikipedia that they were top 100 course? if so, then strange situation to be in..

Played both courses a number of times and enjoyed them. As Phil says, drainage is poor in prolonged wet periods, but should be fine in the dry. A fair bit of water on one, and a bit of a hike up hill and down dale on the other.

I would be very surprised if they are top 100 - wouldn't put them in top 200

I live about 3 miles from it and pass it every time I got to my club. I have played the higher course or hillier course and it was nice.... nice though, no way anywhere close to 15th in the country!

Just make sure on absolutely no account do you change your shoes in the car park.

Played one of the courses a couple of years ago, ok, but nothing special, got a 3ball deal otherwise its a bit over priced

and there's only 10 courses in the county:rofl::rofl:

I have to say, I am thinking the same... the place does not wow me. I could join, its not silly expensive but it is missing a practice ground and its mostly farmed out to groups and cheap deals... Its also been in administration a few times as all the money it makes is spend on other courses in the group as I understand it. Nice day out but its no Brocket Hall.

Yep got to agree with all that

The clubhouse doesn't have a nice feel to it also

Mentmores an odd one, has the potential to be so much more than it is, decent plot of land, 2 courses, ok clubhouse but always feels completely soulless when Im there and its one of those clubs that thinks its way better than it is imho.

Both courses are fine, but get a fair bit of traffic, and suffer badly from the wet in winter. A few of the better players from our place left to go there last year and have left a year later having found it impossible to integrate, hard to get a game with anyone else and not overly enjoyable a place.

They are constantly offering deals from half price membership to 4ball deals etc not to mention hosting lots of pro-ams and jamega events etc

As a day out Id expect you'll quite enjoy it, the fact that it may not be the best place to be a member probably neither here nor there in the grand scheme of things

Played the Roseberry last Friday only £15 each after 4 thought it was great value for that. First time I have been there and agree with the other comments of it feeling a bit corporate however the green were excellent and really enjoyed.

Played it a few times down the years and has always been in decent condition - although the last time the greens were so slooooow it was impossible to get the ball to the hole. Not sure why.
It always seems to be a place that should give you more than you actually get, if you catch my drift. I always get a feeling of "could do better" as far as facilities and 2 potentially very good courses go..
