At the moment, there appears to be a 'perfect storm' of events that appear perfect to get kids into golf.

We have just had The Open on terrestrial TV being won by a younger golfer who is known beyond golf and who is the sort of role model that will attract kids to want to try golf. We also have the school holidays just starting and a rare outbreak of warm and sunny weather.

Has anybody's club seen this as the perfect opportunity for clubs to promote the game to kids, run cheap group lessons and have a real push at getting a new generation of younger members through the club doors. It would really seem like I missed chance if this is let slip past over the next few weeks when there are probably dozens of kids now who want to be like Rory. Thing is, kids minds pass quickly onto other things and it would appear necessary to get them hooked before TV and headlines move back to football.

I know many clubs already have thriving junior sections but has anyone seen local clubs trying to capitalise on these perfect circumstances to get more kids through the door.

my club does this all year round anyway, very good juniors section, they visit local schools etc. Good time to sign up some more though!!

Most schools here don't finish until tomorrow but our Asst Pro is starting a "Summer School", I think, on Monday...
To be fair they do it every school holiday except in winter but I believe there are a good few more than normal signed up for next week.

We run several additional competitions for the juniors at this time. I added a weekly stableford as a way of getting as many juniors as possible to play at this time of year. Scottish Open then The Open, couldn't get more high profile than that.

Like dodgers idea, summer golf camp right after The Open. Ideal way to get ClubGolf off the ground at a club because you're bound to get adult volunteers at this time of year too.

We have very good junior section, as can be seen by the club champs beeing won by a 17 yo with a 2 rd total of 140

Ours will probably do nothing. Not joking either. Just not enough forward thinking people at the club unfortunately
