Anybody watching the England match in London tonight?

Afraid I don't live in London. But I fear even if I did then the thought of watching James Milner et al trying to hold out for 90 minutes for a draw does not fill me with too much enthusiasm. I'm not sure if the use of the word mighty to describe England was ironic or not. ;)

I'll probably be watching Man V Food instead. Man verses food, man verses food......

Switched on for 10 seconds, saw Ashley Cole try to take a throw at which England players were literally running away, so he threw it for someone to compete for a header, and they lost posession. It was the sort of stuff you'd hope not to see at Sunday league level.

that was pretty much the whole game. We are boring, lack flair and generally not good enough. I ended up watching jack reacher again and flicking back here and there only to see us lose possession every time.

Jeez, jack reacher is a terrible film, so the footy must have been worse? Oh dear. Not good.

You can't expect anything else with Mr Hodgson in charge of the team. He is boring, lacks flair and is generally not good enough.
It's like watching LFC play while he was in charge and the same dross out of his mouth being "happy" with a draw when his charges should be going for wins.
I refuse to watch England play while he is in charge of the team.

I agree to a point. Do not think Woy is that good TBH but could anybody else do much better at them moment with the players we have and those that are available.

No! but a bit of intent would be nice. I don't see why the likes of Milner get in when only a bench player at his club, what do we know though as armchair fans :)

A draw is an ok result in the grand scheme of things though.

Think Roy went for the draw and got it. Awful to watch though. I agree with Milner but who would play instead at the moment? Zaha, Ox maybe. Fact is we are limited for players due to lack of talent and injuries/suspensions s I do have a bit of sympathy for him on this occasion

Roy Hodgson is so out of touch with how to manage England!

The way forward is for him to write "keep the ball" as his Facebook status like every no mark has done tonight. Or pick Carrick and suddenly be capable of playing like Spain!

I fully admit to not watching more than 30 seconds of the game as life really is too short. But I understand the clamour for Carrick was because he is one of the seemingly few players England has who can sit in midfield, not give the ball away and make some dangerous passes to open up the oppositions defence.

I completely understand that just saying 'keep the ball' is more easily said than done. But it remains a fact that unless you have possession of the ball then it becomes very difficult, if not impossible nowadays to compete at a high level of football. And the England team that Roy picked can not do that. I did honestly watch about 30 seconds of the match and saw us give possession away 3 times, once from our own throwing. The next time anyone watches England just count how many times they do that once they get into the oppositions half.

Of course it is a mute point if there are players not getting picked that can do that. But the consensus seems to have been that Carrick is one of those players who can.

England have lost one game out of 20 and you are unhappy?

Yes, we have played mickey mouse teams and not played the level of football that would even get close to a 1/4 final of a major championship. Think we all need to re-align our expectations. Non of the games Mr Woy has been in charge of have been good..

It comes down to grass roots football, we as a nation have our top flight league dominated by overseas players, so the pickings of players that play in the highest league are slim. just look at the fact he picked Ricky Lambert for his England debut at 31 years old! OK he has been playing some good football, but at 31 yrs of age, he should not even be on the radar. His backup option to him was Jermain defoe.. has he even played in the premier league this season? Midfield is dire, Milner... come on, he cant even get in the city team, one dimensional over rated player. Frank and Stevie G need to step down, we need to be looking to the future! I would rather we lost 8 games out of ten, but played passionate good looking football with a team with an average age of sub 25, then i 2,3,4 years time, that team is ready to take on the likes of Spain, Germany, Brazil with confidence! should be travelling to the Ukraine expecting to bang 3 in, not hoping for a 0-0..

Doesn't matter who the manager is if the players at his disposal aren't good enough. Ultimately the FA are to blame in the main (together with the top pro clubs) for not investing enough time, money and guidance in developing young English talent at grass roots level. As an FA qualified coach involved with youth football, the changes they have made recently over developing young talent should have been made 20 years ago in line with what was going on in Holland, Spain and Germany.

Why?What makes England so much better than Ukraine? The EPL is a decent league, but it's populated by players from places like Spain,Germany and er, Ukraine.England as a footballing nation is tier 2 edging towards tier 3 and everyone outside England knows it.The assumption by England supporters and your media that you should be challenging for WC's is a really funny joke only English people don't get.

And before anyone else says it, Scotland are tier 3 heading towards tier 4, but at least we acknowledge it.
