Anybody got experience of a 7 wood

Used to carry one years ago. An old Callaway copy (Trident I think) that cost about £10. Loved it and was pretty consistent from about 180 yards. In the end it snapped and I never replaced it as my long irons had improved and I didn't have that gap in my bag any more. Stuck an extra wedge in :)

Fish certainly has!

And a mate who doesn't get on with hybrids uses one rather effectively - 215-230 or so! Animal!

Yep. Callaway X2 Hot 7 Wood and I love it. Very useful from the tee on long Par 3's and easy to hit off the deck whether it be fairway or rough. I think for me it works better than the equivalent hybrid would do due to the increased shaft length and subsequent swing speed. I hit it about 170-180 and nice and high - a beaut of a club :-)

I used to carry one for one tee shot on our course but don't use it anymore.
Mine was an Adams strong 7 wood with a metal shaft for the first 6 inches which gave it a really stiff tip on the shaft.

I also have one of those. 24 deg though. doesn't go far enough for my liking. pretty simple to launch though.

The old gentlemans persuader. It's been crossing my mind for a while. However I'm pleased with how my bag is set up and haven't got room and don't really want to drop the hybrid for the holes I have at my home club

Great club :smirk:

I foolishly got rid of mine and went for a Fli-Hi 4 iron (now for sale) but have now reverted back, great for long par 3's and approaches into raised greens as you can come in high.

I've got a nice Cleveland 7 wood.
I carry a 4 iron but can't hit it for toffee so will use the 7 wood when needs require.
Par 3's of around 180 yards or so, or if I want to try to get the ball up a bit higher to clear a hazard short of the green.
Also handy if the ball is sitting down a bit in the semi.

Slightly off topic but why do the same numbered clubs have different lofts its very confusing.

I have 2 x 3w's which are 13 & 17 degree's, 1 is strong and the other week but both state 3w on the sole! No different I suppose with the 7w's mentioned.
