Now that Mr Mimms and I are officially old Fogeys, we are thinking of doing a golf cruise.
Most probably jan or Feb next year .

Anyone ever done one and care to share any info?

Thanks

I imagine a golf cruise would be amazing.

I love the sea so it has a lot of appeal, I was not even aware there was such a thing as a golf cruise?

Quick Google, they look amazing!

A friend cruises regularly and always takes his clubs, he books the golf direct with the club he wants to play at, arranges a cab or the club collect him from the port.
He plays at every stop and has played a variety of courses, so look at cruises and where they stop and plan your golf accordingly.

I have never been on one but I do know two pros who go as chaperones on one that takes in The Open as well as rounds of golf at courses near ports where they stop.

We had a cruise company at our club (Goodwood downs) can't remember there name now, they were crusing along the south coast playing at a number of high quality clubs

So they do exist

Hope this is of help

Cruise line we go with have had a golf pro on every cruise, and we have done 18 cruises with them. Generally did 2 1hour group lessons twice a day on sea days & also did individual lessons at any other time ( at extra cost of course). All the pro's arranged some golf at ports of call, i took advantage of that once in Malta. Also played in Bermuda once with 3 other's who were on the cruise & hired clubs from the cruise line. We did go on one golf themed cruise which was from Montreal to New York, i didn't play but spoke to a few who did and they all loved it. There was a regular golf pro on that cruise and also a celebrity pro , Bobby Clampett, who accompanied the golfers to all the courses and also did a couple of talks on the ship. If you suffer with sea sickness then just choose cruising area carefully, i.e. Med or Caribbean are pretty safe and a mid size ship with stabilisers. Also choose a cabin in middle of the ship. Good Luck. Try it you could be hooked like we are.

Went on a cruise on Oasis of the Seas a few years back and it stopped at Cozumel in Mexico. One of the excursions was 18 holes at Cozumel Country Club so went and did it. Giant iguanas strolling across the fairway and numberous crocs hanging around the waters edge made for an interesting round.

Quite a few stops on cruises have a golf option but sometimes you can be dependent on enough people wanting to play or they cancel it. Safer to go on the cruise organised trip rather than doing it yourself and run the risk of being left behind.

A bit ago when I was in the US I saw an advert for one on the golf channel. And it was hilarious, they kept referring to 'do you like swinging', 'stiff shafts' etc etc but in a seemingly straight faced way. To this day I am convinced that there was going to be more fruit bowl action than golf action if you signed up.
