.....the Jeremy Vine show at 1.30.

All week he's been interviewing the Mothers of their Sons killed in Afghanistan. Going to their homes and talking to them about their lives and playing the Sons favourite music.

It is heart wrenching stuff with Jeremy Vine conducting the interviews with so much compassion.

Certainly brought tears to my eyes!

You may want to check it out tomorrow.

Yes I have and it feels particularly poignant as my gorgeous nephew Brandon is on tour at the moment and moved to a Patrol Base near Helmand last week. I can't imagine the pain those families have gone through and agree that Jeremy Vine has the perfect touch for such very difficult interviews.

Of course today, even more so - we will remember them :(

My brother in law was on tour in Afghan this year, thankfully made it home when many didn't. Due to go again next year though.

Was tough enough with him there and making it back safely, really feel for all the families who were not so fortunate.

my wife was injured in Iraq in 2003 and medevaced home - our nephew was shot through the lower leg last year in Helmand, recovery is a long, long, ongoing process

It makes you realise how brave our soldiers were/are, especially when you hear how young they were/are.

Not wanting to bring politics into this thread, but it was good to hear, (just before today's programme), David Cameron talk about how important it is to look after the wounded soldiers when they return home.

They must also not be forgotten.

nail hit firmly on the head there mate, there is a tragic loss of life in conflicts, there are also those who end up badly damaged both physically and mentally who need support. Sadly the MOD aren't keen on this fact of life and a lot of the funding and support comes from charities; forgive me for clambering on to my soap box here but that is the sad truth. Help for heroes for example raise an incredible amount of money and do great things - they shouldn't have to. I often wonder what the country spends on methadone each year and where that money could be better spent.

Was listening to it on my way home from work on Friday and had a lump in my throat with the story of the young welsh sniper.

Vine was impressive.
