The house we've recently moved to has loads of good walks in the local area, I used to go out for long walks a lot but I've got lazy over the last few years.
Anyway I digress, I'm after a waterproof coat (not a thick puffer jacket type as I like to layer up) for those rainy days. I have an old one which I dug out the other day, it's slightly worse for wear now and smells like a hobo's crotch so I need a new one!
Any recommendations? Don't want to spend a fortune, well under a ton would be fine, under £50 and I'd be over the moon

Do you have a Mountain Warehouse or Go Outdoors near you? Should find something decent in there.

Yeah as drive4 show said go outdoors is a good shout. You can sign up for a years membership for £5 amd it'll give you money off their items. Quite a substantial discount from what I remember??

Anyway, they sell all the decent names such as Berghaus. Your bound to find something within your price range.

I still use my 20 year old Timberland cottton/canvas coat which has been re-proofed a few times.
It was expensive [£200+] but I got it or a third of that in a sale.
I find it great as it is light and comfy to wear. I like the drawstring waist.
If cold forecast I have a puffa sleeveless underneath, if wet I use an Ashworth shell under.

Just bought some new Salomon winter boots and summer walking 'trainers'.
Would really recommend them against the other top brands.

Went up my local hill yesterday and had the most astonishing clear view of a fair lump of SW Scotland.
I could see Goat Fell on Arran, Ben Lomand and Carsphairn all covered in snow.

Might be a bit late now but TK Maxx usually have some stonker in there, I say a bit late because they normally come out before Christmas.

I'll give props out to Rooter here as the kids say as it was his original suggestion, but Trespass do a great range. Got a jacket for under 30 notes after his recommendation and up to yet it has kept me dry when I've been out dogging. Not been out in any torrential downpours as the dog is a bit nesh, but it has coped with everything up to yet.

At that price for some of them, if I did not have a GG then I would play golf in one of them.

I did a lot of fell walking before I joined the golf club so use some of my walking gear for golfing..

The best jackets I have ever owned for waterproof and warmth are Paramo's.
Im wearing Paramo smock top and berghous trousers in my avatar
