Matchplay this morning,

Asked my oppo to attend the flag as I had a very long putt, which he duly did.

With 10 feet to go i'd put money on the putt dropping, with 5 foot i'd have doubled it... I then notice oppo is day dreaming and hasnt pulled the pin. I shout flag, no response ball now a foot away, I shout flag, FLAG! with inches to go and he pulls it out.,

As it was the ball stopped on the edge of the hole.

I assume there is no penalty for my shouting at him to pull the pin out?

What if the ball had gone in and struck the pin, is it still loss of hole as I was expecting him to remove the flag.

Sadly, loss of hole as he was tending the flag with your authority.
Feels very unfair but there you go.
If he has any sense of honour, he will intentionally lose the next hole!

If he intentionally left flag in...
But how do you prove this?

I've always disliked this rule

Does seem a bit harsh, but I thought that would be the case.

As it was matchplay your opponent would have been able to ignore the rule breach as long as you hadn't made an arrangement to do this before the incident I believe
