Pearson Trophy @ the lovely Liphook GC tomorrow. The closest thing to robbery on a golf course, £50 for 36hole, breakfast, lunch and 2 course eve meal!!!

Was leading after first round last year, but stuck it in reverse in the PM round. Hope to be a little steadier 2morow........won't have to worry about sunburn at least!! ;)

Any over 35s off 6 and less - you really are missing out by not playing this!!

There are times when I wish I was 35+!

That's a belting deal, it's gutting the amount of top draw courses that have 35 and over opens!

Good luck!

Having not seen any 35+ events before, can I ask why that is a normal cut off age for some competitions, as it seems to be referenced above? Seems a very arbitrary line to me!

Yeah, I think it's to have something which isn't for the full time amateur youngsters. The big ams are full of quality 'kids' - the ballots are stupid low and is purely about golf - zero conversation during the round and definitely no pint after. The mid ams offer some decent competitive golf and somewhere to park the pipe and slippers too!! ;)

They are becoming more & more popular - there is the intention to reinstate a British Mid Am. The mid am scene is huge in the US - they even have guaranteed spots on the Walker cup teams

the population is getting older so mid ams are getting more popular, still not as many up here and they are silly expensive. £50 for that package sounds great- uber jealous

36 holes at Parkstone for me tomorrow, every bit as nice as Liphook but with nice views thrown in as well. Breakfast and lunch included for the princely sum of............ zero pounds!! (invitation day and my host is paying, bless him :D )

This is one of my targets for next year, I'm already old enough, just not quite good enough. hopefully this time next year I'll be looking forward to joining you there.

I'll try to encapsulate some of my East Berks Luck in this message - hope it works.

Good luck and have a great day.

Good luck chap, this time when you're in the lead after round 1 you'll know how to close it out, have faith and go low!

Good luck, play well and enjoy.

I can do the over 35 bit but not make the 6 h/cap that said there are still some decent options with 12 and 18 limits for next year.
Now best earn some brownie points so i can come out to play.

I saw this months ago and ummed and ahhed about whether or not to enter.
In the end I didn't bother, justifying it to myself by thinking I'd be balloted out anyway, but in truth it was just damn laziness!

Good luck sir! :)
