Out of interest has anyone seen any articles or advice on kids clubs. My little nephew is a keen golfer and will soon be growing out of his first set (Ping aimed at age range 10-12) and I was looking for some detail on when he should look to change them (aside from when he grows too tall) what to look at for his next set (is it straight on to adult clubs) etc

Seems that something like this would make an ideal article maybe once a year in a magazine as I am sure that there are plenty of parents/uncles/aunts/grandparents etc who, even as keen golfers do not know much about this and we are, after all, meant to be encouraging kids to get into the game.

So, has anyone seen anything worth reading or is it a case of go ask a pro.

We've done a whole series on kids clubs you can watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kd6eKkc6tlc

On a more serious note, your best bet is to talk to your pro, as some 13 year olds might fit a larger junior set, while others might want to move into a ladies spec between that age and around 15-16. That said, I've never had kids so they'll be plenty in a better position to offer their advice!

whilst my nephew was growing up he moved through the masters ranges of clubs, then onto adult cavity backs with shortened shaft from sports hq until he was ready for full adult clubs.
The pro who he had group lessons and holiday courses with kept an eye on his progress and helped advise when to move forward.

I'd recommend the Golphin range for kids. They are stocked in Scotland (based out of Irvine) and also avail online
They are based on club length per age range, but made of a lightweight alloy which makes them very easy for young kids to swing.
They make 4 club styles - putter, driver, mid-iron and a 'swedge'
My 6yr old daughter loves her irons and if she sticks in at her lessons will get a Driver for birthday
