Just checking if any forumers play at my club, Hoebridge in Woking? Would be good to get a few games this summer..

Have played many many times there over the years
Some very nice and original holes : 5 6 7 are great, like 8 10 11 13 14 16
18 is a shame
But the 17th should be nuclear bombed into oblivion.

17th is certainly memorable! I think it's a great challenge. Several of the others would be just the same at that point of the course.

Certainly, like other popular pay&play courses, it can be a long round, it demonstrates how good greens can be even with lots of traffic. Does get a bit soggy though and there's not lot of clubbiness to the place!

One of the funniest things I've ever seen on a golf course happened on that hole. I was playing with a mate and we caught up a 2-ball in a buggy on the 17th. As we got to the tee they had already played their shots and were half way up the hill in their buggy. Just before the top they stopped and reversed back down. We assumed they'd dropped something so waited for them to go back up. Neither of them got out before they drove back up the hill only to stop just before the top once again and reverse back down. This time, they both got out, the pair of them packing a few pounds, had a chat at the side of the buggy before one got back in and left his mate to walk up the hill. Clearly their combined weight was too much for the buggy to carry up the hill.
