Wallpapering over the next week or so in the hall. Going half way up the wall to the dildo rail. Anyway stripped the paper off and was hoping it would leave the backing paper on. But it hasn't. Furthermore it had brought off the original magnolia paint that was on the plaster/ skimming. The plaster looks excellent, but ave mentioned to Missis T about putting a coat or two of watered down emulsion on the wall for the wallpaper/paste to adhere to. Would that be correct.
cheers boys.

Or a very weak paste (adhesive) mix. Years ago, on a ruff wall I used a weak unibond mix.

It's what you are going to do with the 'dildo rail' I am concerned about...

Me brother put it on for me years ago, ma in law came round one day and said it looks nice, " what's it called, I fancy some". " Dildo rail" I says. She never cottoned on.

sorry, never noticed you were papering the hall, not painting it - ignore my advice!

Pmsl laughing, just asked Missis T if she fancied nipping out for some. Might end up bladdering two lots of emulsion down and taking it from there. Odd how all or sod all has come off

Paint is only as good as the wall you are painting.
There must be a reason it's come off in the first place
It can peel off leaving bubbles in the paper.
Go for the uni bond mix with water but sand down any edges first the paper should hide any blemishes.

What I cannot get my head around CC98 is that is the fourth lot of paper that is going on the wall (below rail) the last couple of times the patterned part of the paper has come off in a one er. Over 3/4 of the paper removed this time, the pattern has come off lovely leaving just the backing paper. However one wall took all of backing paper off and the original paint, leaving just the plaster with occasional bits of paint.
Oh well wall now rubbed down.
by uni bond you mean like a PVA glue with water.

this .
it maybe you have a little damp that's why some is ok and some not.
The Unibond is only like a sealer to stop the wall sucking the glue off the paper.
Is there any mold or discolouration on the wall.

I find it's usually around the windows and doors as condensation drips down to the wall and undermines the paper adhesive.

The walls bone dry, it is an internal wall and there's no plumbing either side or upstairs.

without going off topic . When I was in Normandy the other week. One of the lads was talking about when his dad had passed away a couple of years ago ( mum died a good few years ago). Him and his brother had to go through the house and empty it before it was sold. He was rooting through a bedside drawer and found a red silk purse/bag. He opened it and found the biggest black dildo you could imagine. I nearly had a stroke laughing.

Cross line it with lining paper, then paper over that for the best results.

This. And only this! Ignore all other comments. Oh and don't get a tricky patterned wallpaper. You'll spend more time in the kitchen nursing a brew and cursing your choice than actually wallpapering.

Have you checked for damp? Borrow a dehumidifier and run that for a week.
