HID has come round to the idea, so looking for a new tv that is 3D, plenty of time to look as we will wait until jan sales,

but have no idea whats good whats not ect, so thought id ask here see if anyone has or is looking into getting one, and what type of things should we keep in mind?

I have one, bought a Sony Bravia NX713 (KDL-40NX713). Absolutely love it. I have Sky 3D, PS3 Games in 3D and 3D BluRays and I am constantly blown away by it!

The only issue I have with mine is a small amount of CrossTalk with certain Games and with Sky 3D (Any text in the lower 1/4 of the screen).

There is two type of 3D TV, Passive & Active.

Passive 3D TVs use the 3D Glasses you use at the cinema.

Active 3D TVs use the expensive 3D Glasses made by the TV Manufacturer and require batteries.

My TV is an Active TV and are charged via USB, they were £50 a pair.

I'd suggest having a look for a 3D TV that will fit the space it needs to fit, once you have found it, google for reviews. Don't go buy the reviews of websites, go for the reviews by the people who use them every day and then choose which one is best for you.

When I bought mine I paid £999, which included the TV, 3D BluRay Player, 2 Pairs of Glasses and a few other things. I also got cash back, then sold the 3D Player, in the end I paid around £700 which was cheap back at the start of the year.

I will say that if you are to buy one, make sure you have Sky 3D, if I didn't have Sky 3D I'd wouldn't use the 3D Function half as much as I do.

I'm more than happy to answer any questions if you have any.

I have 3D and have to say it's great. We have a Sony 42" and if I was buying again I'd go as big as I could afford. We got a deal from John Lewis who threw in a 3D blu ray player and 2 spare glasses but that was this time last year. It can get uncomfortable wearing the glasses but the affects are excellent, only downside is you can't really lie down and watch the film as the glasses need to be straight no slant (bit slanty is fine but for peak viewing more or less straight) or you get a bit distortion.

A year ago 3D was all the rage but I don't feel it is now a year on.watching rugby in 3D is mind blowing too, all in all go for it and enjoy!

Recently bought the SAMSUNG PS51D550C1KXXU, 51 inch, true HD - 1920 x 1080(P) resolution - beware of HD Ready - they are often only 720p resolution, 4 HDMI inputs, you can obtain a wifi adaptor for it enabling you to stream video from your pc wirelessly or by usb if you prefer.

The 3D is amazing - hopefully sky's 3d content will only increase.

Got it from comet for 799, that was with 2 pairs of 'free' glasses (normally about £99). If you shop around you may get it for even less

3D must have been about for 40yrs at least. It never catches on! its hot for about a year then it dissapears again. Dont see any reason for it to stay this time?

I think it will to be honest, the difference in quality between modern 3D tv and the days of crappy green and red cardboard glasses is like night and day. Sport coverage is amazing.

Hope it does to be honest. But think I will give it a few years before investing. Plus it will be cheap to buy then. Tight Northener eh wot!!!!

Coincidently me and the mrs were looking at them in currys on Friday. As if I ain't got enough tele's in the house!

Anyone any idea how long itl be before you can watch 3d tv without having to wear them bloody glasses, granted the experience is awesome from what ive seen but surely theres something in the pipeline to eradicate the need to wear them?

It will be at least 5 years before 3D TV without glasses really hits the market. Already available but highly limited and highly expensive.

I have a Samsung 3D TV and must say that without having sky it's not really getting much use. A few 3D blurays and the occasional game is all it gets turned on for. Not much worth watching on 3D Bluray at the mo.

If you have Sky HD it probably well worth considering. If you don't have or plan to have Sky 3D or play games then you should save yourself the money and just get a really good regular flat screen.

budget of about 600, have seen this one, comes with 2 pairs of active glasses also, can hook the tv up to my router also

things ive picked up on are that full hd is practiclly a must if wanting to watch in 3d, as it can display more than lesser res screens, high refresh rate as for it not to ghost, when watching fast moving images like sports and action films

bar that i have no idea lol, can wait until the jan sales and hopefully bag a decent deal
