I had occasion to go to a Centre Parc yesterday
(my ex was staying there and needed some documents taking up. She had had her car trashed on the A11 on way in by a Merc driver who had somehow managed to shunt her car, the one in front of her and the one in front of that while they were all in a 10 mph queue - oh and the Merc wasn't his! Fortunately my daughter was in the car behind the Merc)

Back to Centre Parc - the plan was for me to take the documents up, join them for a barbie before heading home.

Fine except Centre Parcs wanted £25 before they would let me in! (They didn't get it.)

They only do it because if they dont, lots of those just 'popping in to drop something off' would then vanish and stay the weekend too.

I think they have been forced into it to be honest.

but you can't just go in, you have to go through security, and identify who you are visiting and their room(?) number, plus they have to collect you - hard to go missing. signing in and out would/should be sufficient - not as profitable though.

but you can get in free if the people you're visiting have spare capacity in their 'unit' - eg five in a six bed unit

Centreparcs is very expensive. Apparently they charge 50p if you want to fart inside their shopping mall complex.

Great. Now that's another "service/product" knocked off my list.

Somehow, I feel the millions of us who use t'internet are beginning to get the feel of it. If enough people moan/rant/rave about dodgy tactics etc.etc. then the companies lose business....simples.

There ARE ways around this sort of tactic. We (the family) have had almost exactly the same thing this week. I spoke to them and we came to an arrangement.....therefore, they keep my business. If they'd insisted on £25 (say), then that's the end of that.

Sadly, my holiday is on temporary hold (for about an hour or two) due to circumstances beyond my control.

Oh well, at least I get to pick up a few balls/tees/gloves and check out the forum.
