Hi All,

Played last night in a 4-ball and had an absolute stunner of a round.

Finished up carding an 81 which was my personal best by 4 strokes. Was disappointed not to break 80, an 8 on the 15th was what broke the good scoring but no-shame at all in the score, especially in very windy conditions.

As for the company, the sports & handicaps chairman was out in our 4-ball and said he cant wait to get my next competition card in so he can don his black cloak and knife and cut me to ribbons!

The round was, 6 (par4), 4 (Par4), 3 (Par 3), 5 (par4), 4 (par5), 4 (par3), 4 (par4), 4 (par3), 6 (par5), 3 (par3), 4 (par4), 3 (par3), 6 (par4), 6 (par4), 8 (par5), 4 (par3), 4 (par4), 3 (par3).

Bar the 15th and a couple of silly duff chips and lipped-out putts it would have been better.

Hard work now to achieve my goal of breaking 80 this year.

Really pleased though as played poorly at cobtree, pulled it together monday night and then tuesday played a society in 30mph winds and torrential rain and came out with 27pts. Tues night scored 22pts for 11 holes and then last night so in good form this week, shame I miss this weekends medal.

Hope everyone else is in good shape.

Sounds like a good round of golf for a 28 hcap Jon, that big cut is going to come very soon I think. No matter how well we play we always come off with a couple of "if only's". Thats why we go back and try and try and better it. Keep up the good work.

Just got back from the range, am now swinging on a much better plane and am now able to drive the ball. spent about 45min working on getting up and down and didnt leave until I got 3 in a row on each hole.

Good stuff with the 81 mate, well done. Looking forward to the next meet already!

Excellent stuff MJ. You sound like your in my tuesday shoes, Had a great round spoilt by a silly score on one hole. But we should remember the good shots, forget the bad ones!

Keep it up!

Just one word Jon........doomed!!!

Your handicaps gonna come a tumbling!

Can't believe your playing off 28 with a score like that mate. Wish I could do that!
Well done, hope the secretary has his kind head on though. ;)

Jon - congrats on a good round. If I may make a small comment on what I saw on Saturday, which wasn't much I will admit, it was the shots you hit swinging within yourself which were the best struck. If you could achieve this, rather than swinging 'eyeballs out' with every club, you wouldn't loose any distance because you would strike it c;eaner and your h/cap would tumble.

HTL - glad you are swinging it better (and flatter). This will make alot of difference. That said, loosing some muscle bulk (jealosy creeping in) would help flexibility and rotation. There is not a lot wrong with your swing onnce you are on plane. This is my current swing thought (one is good, 50 is not good).

Well done MWJ, Just try and keep calm next time out, lower the expectation and you should be fine. Trying to replicate yesterdays round next time may well lead to trouble so just go wasy and enjoy it.
