After shooting my PB 85 last time out (PGA National) I have gone one better today with a 83 on the Derby for 39 points. I went round 5 over on the front nine but started the back with a disaster on 10 and 12 with two 7's one was a re-tee after finding OOB so not the end of the world  I managed to get some ground back tough and finished with a Birdie, Par on the last 2 holes which can be card wreckers. I had 2 birdies in the round and my highlight of the round was pitching in from 76 yards

I could have saved some shots out there but I'm not going to dwell on them as I'm pleased with the score. I'm even more pleased as I've neglected golf a little lately due to hitting the gym and my body being to tired and sore to even swing the club properly. Went the range Tuesday after training back and chest Monday but it was hopeless.

All in all I'm happy with this one

If my last two rounds had been official I would be now sitting on a 15.5 HCP

Not being sniffy, but why don't you do it in competition or in a supplementary? Then your handicap will be down to what you know it should be.

Waiting for my mate to get his first HCP so I can play in comps. Most comps are on a Wednesday and I work till 2 so need him to play in the afternoon with me and sign my card.

He does need a HCP to sign my card in a comp doesn't he? Or as he's a member can he just play the round with me and not enter the comp but still sign my card?

Depends on how your club views it - a responsible person acceptable to the committee. Are mates of yours responsible?
