Recollections of Balatas and PTS90s etc

Here is one .... name that ball?

I found it two years ago on the beach at the course I learned game on between 1978-84 as a school kid... it looks like it had a hard life.....

Good efforts all. Some old timers about.... here is a face on view.

A Maxfli DDH 500 .... the uniformity of wear suggests it has spent a long time washing in/out on the gravel beach for years!

They were rubbish Brian. I used to like the Slazenger B51's that came in their own individual box with tissue paper. Something to dry your eyes on when you smacked it OB.

Certainly do.

Just goes to show that marketing BS is not a recent development and neither is golfer's gullibility.

Was it not round about that time that John Huston (?) PGA Tour player started promoting a brand of shoe that promised us extra distance on our shots.

30 years ago I remember opening a brand-new slazenger 65 from its individual wrapper on the first tee. I smacked it once (thinned) into a massive bramble bush in front of the tee. I wonder if it is still in there?

wasn't it a Dunlop 65 ? I used those quite a lot as well as the Penfold Ace. James Bond used one in Gold Finger.
