Following on from Captain's day yesterday, today's Ladies Invitation has gone as well. I am not one to moan about the weather as a rule, I have lived through enough British summers to not be surprised by the rain but this year does seem to be worse than most.

Have to agree. It's dire. Every golf day seems to either have rain or the threat of it.

Luckily we have only lost one comp this year, The Scratch, 36 holes. Due to be rearranged later in the year,
It does seem that despite all the Met Office promises in the press that it has been constant rain for weeks.

Typical isn't it despite the forecast of a wet afternoon there has only been short sharp shower.

It was our pit closure anniversary do yesterday in Nottingham, lo and behold I bumped into one of our green keepers at about 8pm, well oiled. He said today's competition Had to be abandoned due to the course being waterlogged. The said some of the greens were horrendous with the amount of water on them which he had never known before.

Rained early on but stopped by 11.00. Ideal growing conditions with wet and then warm humid air. Not wonder the rough is a lost ball every time at the moment

And yet another is off, ladies open this afternoon at Great Lever & Farnworth.

Its our Captain's Charity Day tomorrow, the weather is supposed to change this evening so fingers crossed for that.

Our club championship was due to be played this weekend but the course became waterlogged and closed whilst the early starters were on the course.
