Merry Christmas Morning to you all!,
I been lurking and made I (think) 2 posts so far. However as I'm trying to get into the festive spirit I thought I would say hello proper!
Firstly the forum has been great for catching up and hearing lots about the game, how its moved on and also how its still the same in many ways
I'm getting back into the game after a 15 year absence. The absence was a petulant thing based on me leaving school as a +4 handicapper, then reality of working and not getting the job I wanted meant I was working throughout the UK permanently with no chance of practice. So being 17 I decided if I couldn't practice, enjoy my game I would give up until I could practice. Looking back it was hugely stupid.....
Anyway the spark got revived by getting roped into playing a works tournament in Houston. I ended up playing 4 rounds in 4 days, enjoying every minute and managing to shoot around 100 each round. So I've practised over the past year since that golf day, 2 or 3 times a week at the range. Managed 5 rounds also not scoring well but too many three putts are killing scores as is not enough game time.
With all the advances in technology I had a Golf MOT at Direct Golf (as it was free and I wanted to see what they said). Interesting to see my swing speeds, lie requirements and highlighting the issues I thought were in my head. Mainly hitting everything very high, with the feel of the clubs not releasing consistently even though the swing feels virtually the same. Had my three swings on the Mizuno DNA device which was interesting too. 87, 5,4,4,6 if I remember right!
So with the results of the MOT there I'm going to go for a proper custom fit somewhere and see if they correspond. So new year, new clubs and a membership at my local course to come it all looks to be good for 2015. No expectations other than to keep enjoying things again!
Cheers,
Ross
