hi
as a birthday treat and also with the fact that im playing a bit more golf now, and will be doing so next season i would like to update my driver, and perhaps gain some extra yards, im playing now to 14 but that would
be lower if my chipping were better !!! (my best was 10)
anyhoo my best drive is a power fade, my driver is an old titleist one
bought on ebay about 10 years ago, so one presumes technology has moved on

i suppose the most obvious candidate is the Taylor made sldr, there is one on ebay now for £199 i could buy now, 12 degree regular flex, ex demo, a couple of years ago i won some Taylor made custom fit irons, i was measured up for them at Wentworth and my swing speed with the irons was 80mph,

i have this vision of myself hitting my fade but with the draw setting on the club straightening it out, of course that could be mumbo jumbo?
i would be grateful if perhaps the experienced members of this forum could provide some guidance

Cheers Dth

I would suggest that you get yourself custom fit for a driver to ensure the correct shaft and loft for the driver

Lots of options out there

Try as many as you can. What's wrong with your current driver or is it the lure of a new shiny. If you are struggling why not invest in a 30 minute lesson with your pro and see if a tweak to technique helps find some yardage and a cheaper option

many thanks for reply,

i think im a bit to far gone for more lessons, to be honest im pretty happy with how i swing now, with the driver i stand a touch open and then drive 'down the line' giving me a nice fade, i've definitely got the hankering for something shiny though :) im just wondering if the new tech can put another 20 or so yards on my drive to boot

new tm driver is out in January so sldr will be in a bargain bucket come january

i was generally thinking of holding back till early next year, goodness knows what they can come up with after the SLDR, 'Steroid assisted?'
but if i there was a cheap sldr going just wondered if it was the club for me, perhaps the new ping g30 though that seems to be getting very good reviews?

good idea, im a bit hampered as i dont have transport but i think there is an american golfstore
not too far, wonder if you can pay for a fitting only?
Cheers Dth
