I know i keep banging on about the good ideas that are coming out of my new club but this is so different to what I am used to.
The latest one is the 'fun day' in 2 weeks time. The idea is that you bring a non golfer up to club for a 9 hole comp. The golfer plays tee to green and the non golfer putts. All of this is followed by a relaxed meal, beer etc. To me this is a great idea, it gets people up the club, it gives a taste of golf to those who may have a some interest, it is an opportunity to walk the course with the wife or kids, a chance to meet more members and their families and boost the club atmosphere and it gets families into the clubhouse for food an beer so as they can see what it is like and break the stigma of it being a stuffy place for boring old men.
My wife is really looking forward to seeing where I disappear to every weekend and has already said that if she likes the place she is happy to go up there for food or even a few beers of a Saturday evening.
