Playing with a PP the other week and he snapped the 7 iron head off his graphite shaft. Anyway he saw the local pro about fitting a new shaft, the pro said "can I have a look at the rest of your clubs". He said " they are fakes".
cost him £550.

I'd be fuming.

Where did he get them from?

Bought them off ebay just under two years ago. Just made himself a member at our place today. I was playing with him when he broke the club. He told me today he has some bad news, his clubs were fakes. I told him am getting fitted at ping in July/August. He said al ave your ap 2 714s. Well at least there real. He had a bit of a bad day. Wore his new Nike shoes today. After 15 holes he was in agony with his feet. He had "Mel" stitched on the side of his new shoes. Another PP said " is that short for melon".

There are less fake clubs around now then a few years ago but they keep still on showing up from time to time.
I must admit Ive never bought 2nd hand clubs just because of paranoia.
Id always rather pay £250 for a new driver then pay £100 for the same club 2nd hand and take a chance it might be fake.
Id would devastated me to find out Ive purchased a fake club
Feel sorry for you i hope some how you can get your money back you usually can from ebay

Not meaning to be facetious but why do I read so much about fake golf clubs in the UK? For example, I can go to any golf store here in the USA and get the clubs serial number and call or email the manufacturer. Ditto with online purchases?

I've never purchased A fake through eBay. Always checked the seller first whether they are trade or private.

If it's to good to be true, it normally is.

If he paid by pal pal or credit card he may still be covered

Most fake clubs have legitimate serial numbers on them taken from a set of legitimate clubs
