With the antics of a few of the American rookies this has the potential of another Brookline. It's early doors just now, but wait 'til the beer really starts to flow, then we'll see the real American galleries.
It sickens me that they can't even win properly.
I get the distinct impression that they are under instruction from Azinger to behave this way.
Don't get me wrong, this is not the rantings of a bad loser. The Americans have played better than us without being spectacular and at the moment they are very deserving of their lead, but....
"The only thing worse than a bad loser is a bad winner"

You'll notice that one of the few guys not deliberatly winding the crowd up is Leonard and for that he has my respect.

The galleries are a real turn off for me it's starting to distract me to the point that I may switch off.

I have switched off!, cant stand the Yankee Doodle players and the idiotic, mindless American fans. HID is back home and getting a bit pissed off with my swearing and shouting, so I am getting my putting mat out.

We have been well beaten and the yanks have deserved the win.

I think there is a line and sometimes the American fans do cross it. But apart from idiotic shouting and chants of USA, they have been generally respectfull when our players are hitting shots. And other than that you can't ask for much more. If Europe were playing better the crowd would be quietened.

I mean at the K Club we were pretty raucous ourselves!

I accept that you're not a bad loser AF but take a look at some the posts on this forum over the last few days. If they were read by an American golf fan, he would be entitled to gloat.

They made more putts and played better golf. I'm glad is been a bit closer than the previous couple of years.

I thought the same as AF but the post match interviews with Kim, Boo and Kenny Perry turned me round. The only guy who I don't have time for is JB, he didnt say a word to Soren at the end of his game.

Yes, well done the USA.

Although no doubt there have been a few idiots within the fans I personally have enjoyed the atmosphere generated within them by the American players. Shows a genuine desire to win.

listened to westwood and he was not happy with the comments directed at him this week by sections of the crowd. the better team won but the yanks have a problem supporting their team with insulting their opponents and this has being going on since kiawah island in 1991.

Haveto say I was remarkably surprised by the restraint of the US fans. OK I got fed up with moronic USA every time a hole was one or a great shot played but that was to be expected. Booo on every soht was also trying but given the way he played the front nine he deserved the plaudits.

There must have been something said and in the media because the respect shown to Jimenez on the 17th was brilliant especially when one guy tried to heckle. He was soon shown the error of his ways. There wasn't a sound as Jimenez putted. Fair play to the US and the fans.

As usual its the few that spoil it for the rest. But I really find the way the yanks are a little too vocal when its not needed is unsavory. Its really down to the unsavory patriotism the yanks have. Its interesting which European players the yanks would stay quiet for & which they wouldn't.

Yanks are more exciteable than Europeans (except maybe Italians!). They did well and were very gracious in winning. They have every right to celebrate, they haven't won in 9 years. Boo Weekley is an absolute star.
Match was very exciting turned a little when Mahan holed that monster on 17.
Match hung for a while on the Holmes/Hansen match, had Hansens lip-out on 17 dropped, you never know.

Best European -Poulter by miles, then Rose.
Worst Euopean - Garcia (simply awful with putter in hand) followed closely by Padraig 'can't hit a fairway' Harrington.

ps Westwood is a sore loser, he didn't play great this week and should not be moaning to the media about a few drunkards heckling, trying to belittle the US win, he should be big enough to take it on the chin and say well done to the opposition.

Overall the crowds weren't bad, over-exitable and childish but with the odd exception not too ott.
The US has really only had the gung ho attitude for a relatively short time, it's typical of most new nations, and here we're really talking post civil war and probably post WW1. Some of it is actually admirable - the National Flag on public buildings (and not the tatty scrap we so often see), kids are taught their anthem and their constitution.

There will never be a United States of Europe, who knows the EU anthem (is there one? - just checked Beethoven's Ninth symphony - an old tune by a dead German - why? - if they wanted something by somebody dead the 1812 would have been better!) and who can get passionate about an amorphous blue flag? - and what would we use should a Norwegian player qualify?
