Another bounce question...

Spent a week in scotland last week playing links golf with the lads.

My usual preffered chip and run shot around the greens is with my 56* sand wedge with 11* bounce.

This is fine on our lush parkland home course but struggled with it on the tight lies and baked links fairways. (few duffers which lead to quitting on the shot as scared to commit)

We are going back up this weekend and the question is...

should I play the same shot with my gap wedge (52*.08*) or my 8 iron (6* bounce).

Will the lower bounce help??

cheers.

Either the gap or 8 iron would be better, but it depends on what type of shot you plan.I use a lower lofted club when I dont need to pop the ball over something(rough, bunker, etc) and want it to get rolling straight away.If I have an obsticle I want to clear or I want a softer landing I use a higher lofted club. The lower bounce will always help on tighter lies.
