Angry bird

We have the same 2 swans return every year to the pond at our 3rd hole, they usually have 6/8 signets. If anyone gets too close to the young ones the adults will attack.

There speaks a man who must have run the gauntlet to get up the 18th hole at Cheshunt!

Cheshunt golf course, that brings back memories, I havnt played there for over 30 years. 40 years ago I used to walk my dog around the course of an evening, he would find about 50 balls a night which I used to sell, very soon funded my first set of clubs and the dog loved his walks. I think I ought to go back and play it some time.

I have indeed 'ran' that particular gauntlet many many times, and have been known to walk an extra 100+ yards to avoid the evil geese.

Stems from a nasty incident in my childhood involving a balsa airplane, an evil goose, Whipsnade zoo and a small fence...........

Bad geese, evil geese...

And breathe.............

Swans are definitely creatures to be wary of if the cygnets are about, but can be hand-fed - just be aware of their semi-teeth and 'lack of subtlety'! Five cygnets this year from the pair at The Shire this year - all still there.

Canada Geese are detestable for the mess they make. Can be amusing to watch them play follow-the-leader and have inter-gang battles. Egyptian Geese are much more 'Golfer Friendly'!

Its about 30 years ago I played my very first game of golf there :)

We have approximately 50/60 geese that live on our 9th, 10th and 18th fairways. The 'crowd' tends to just part as you walk through them. Never known them to attack anyone. Considering how much mess they leave on the fairways I think they may be Canadian geese.
