Dear God / Jebus / Seve,

I'm not a religious man, however, if there really is a higher power or some kind of devine puppet-master up there looking down on us all, could i just ask for one small favour? You see there is a young lad from a place called "Norn Iron" who has become quite the skilled sportsman over recent years and he is currently leading the way at the US Open. He brings joy to so many people down here and his talent, personality and style has injected a certain excitment in to the game of golf that we haven't really experienced in a while. He has recently experienced a few dissapointments when it comes to the end of these big tournaments and I feel he now deserves to win and win in a big way.

My one wish is for this: please God, don't let him f%&* it up on the back 9 this evening!

Thanks Jebus,

Amen

devine - I think you mean divine -Jim Devine MP isn't overseeing anything these days.

Dear God,

There is a young(ish) man who plays golf at Cathcart Castle. He has handicapped himself by buying a set of Mizuno's instead of God's own Ping creations like myself. He is actually a likable lad and can be a bit of a bandit however he also drives a hairdressers car.

We are heading to Machrihanish again in August and I was hoping you could find it in your heart to look down on him and ensure that he hits a drive that sails the beach like an exocet missile instead of him floundering about in the sand like a beached whale(again) I would hate to see a grown man cry, or would you suggest that I pack a bucket and spade?

There is also a mad Irishman and I'd appreciate a zip like that nice chap from Rainbow for him.

the only one that can change the outcome is Lee Westwoood.

Do they say prayers in Worksop? ;)

They still eat missionaries and point at airplanes in Worksop.

:D :D nice one GB.

I was pleased to see him having a better round though after the first couple he had. Still would like to see him win a major, but not today

And God, you seem like a decent enough chap, can you rid us all of the shanks?

No-one likes them and they really ruin a round of golf. :(

A bit like Smiffy's white trousers.....
