An intimidating set of sticks...

Yep. I can relate to that!

Btw. He's most certainly right about the V-Steel! I knew a grouchy old Scottish Touring-ish Pro who had a run in with Taylormade, so changed everything to Titleist - except for his V-Steel 3Wl I was using one at the time too, and it was a great club!

Yes M'lud.

The PW sole is ruined and there are dinks throughout the bag.

I don't even use headcovers so I can get a few clatter marks :D

The man from Del Monte says "OK!"

You're in. Sadly my Benross wedges preclude me from entering...

18 year old forged irons, 16 year old 4 wood, 8 year old driver, 10 year old forged SW. I'm not scratch

I don't think having a 64* Wedge in the bag is 'cool' even if rusty! Deemed much more a hackers club! A rusty 53* Diadic on the other hand....!

Very good article and it is pretty much spot on. I think the reason you see a lot of scratch golfers using older kit is because they do not see the point in changing something that works. But your average handicap golfer is still looking for the golden club that will transform their game, so is always trying out something new.

one thing I have noticed about a lot of scratch golfers is that they very rarely have a set of clubs from the same manufacturer. For example if their irons are PING they have not got the matching fairways, driver and wedges.

Couldn't agree more, it's almost like a one brand bag screams hacker!
