i had a nightmare today a gross 96 but am i clinching at straws or what.whilst playing the par 5 7th i put my first into the gorse,i played a provisional ball down the middle(that saying always play you 2nd shot first comes to mind)
when i did'nt find my first i played a great 3 wood(my provisional) 8ft to the left of the pin and got my putt. on the card it was a 5(par)but am i adding the eagle collection of 1

Say what you like mate, but it's a 5 I'm afraid.
I did something similar on the 1st at my course. I pulled my drive into the whins and hit a provisional onto the green and putted for a 4.
Didn't put a 2 down though.

Yes and no, In a medal no, with that ball yes.

If it was a par 3 and you lost your first ball then stuck the provisional into the hole for a hole in one it would still go down as a 3 on the card but I would count it as a hole in 1, you might get out of the drinks for the bar in that case.
Welcome to the forum by the way.

Even if you say to yourself that its not even a comp and call it an eagle, it isnt really because you had at least 2 strokes from the tee to enable you to get a ball in the hole. That is a total of 4 physical strokes on that hole.

Imagination is a wonderful thing :D

It's not an eagle...clearly...but you know you've played that hole in 3 shots!!! Well done, it's what it means to you that matters.

It is an eagle with your second ball which allows the scorecard to read PAR.

Great escape, take the positive from the experience.

It is still three off the tee, you cannot count it as an ace, no matter how much we'd like to count those as such.

All we can do is wish it'd been the first ball & not the second ball. There are no second serves in Golf unfortunatly for a fault.

EDIT: And in answer to the Opening Poster, three off the tee, next to the green putt for parr.... simples Ect...! But still a good recovery for a parr save, so you can be proud of that at least.

Had of course you managed to find your first ball before playing the second from past where the first was, then done the same, then & only then would it have been eagle. But chances are you'd probably have had to play a recovery out of lord knows what sort of mess & hope to get birdie or again save parr.

I'd be counting myself lucky.

what about greensomes?

"what about greensomes? "

In Greensomes, both partners drive off and the best drive is chosen, they then play alternate shots with that ball, so.... it would still be a 5
