An Albatross

Yip , holed a 240 yard 4 wood on our 15th to half a match with my brother....still remember his face when i was hunting for the ballat the back of the green and he walked up to the hole and saw the ball :-) :-D :-D :-D

I believe Swinger has had a few....
Nearest I've been is about 2 feet - although I've hit the pin and bounced away a few times.

I've had one :)

Come fairly close on a couple of other occasions, one about 6" from the hole in the same round as my hole in one last year

Never had one, nor a hole in one. I came very close a couple of weeks before Christmas where I hit a 3 iron in to about 4 inches in a competition. I also lipped out for one a year or so ago by accident. I was playing a course with a split green and got mixed up and pulled a 4 wood that I thought was heading for the wrong pin but turns out it was the hole I should be playing to. Thankfully my playing partner told me that otherwise I faced about a 125 foot putt.

3 for me. Haven't added to the tally for awhile though. Hole in one on a par 4 and holed two second shots on different par 5s.
There was a guy last time we had a thread about this who had done about 7 or something.

I had 4 albatrosses, all 2's on par-5's before I had my first, and so far only, hole-in-one in 2013. I think that a 2 on a par-5 is actually better than a 1 on a par-3, because it's 3 under par rather than only 2 under!

My first ace was on a 267-yard par-4 in 1997. Golf Monthly ran a feature as I am the only person to have had an albatross and been struck by lightning as apparently the chances of getting an albatross are the same.

Well I never knew that

What size where the holes though?
Standard 4.25" holes thanks! My previous club was in the habit of having a spare open hole on each green, and I once made a sort of unofficial albatross by holing my 2nd shot on a downhill par-5 into the wrong hole. I had to place the ball alongside the hole and putt from there to the correct hole. I then 3-putted, so that was doubly annoying! :(

I haven't had this rare bird, but did see Greg Owen make one at the 2001 Open at Lytham. Was stood about 10ft from him when he hit his shot too.
