American Golf....

I find that the anti AG stance comes from South of the border. I bought a pair of shoes yesterday and the service I got was top notch in Clydebank. Genuine customer service wanting to help and offer advice.

Very impressed by AG in World of Golf Clydebank.

Doesn't really surprise me. However it could be for any of the following reasons:

Scots are far less demanding about the knowledge/service they receive.

Scots are known to be far more demanding of the knowledge.service they expect, so properly trained/qualified staff are provided.

As Golf is such a part of the Scottish culture, staff are naturally knowledgeable.

AG know they can BS/rip the English off, but not the Scots.

Each AG store has its own culture - same are great, others poor. There are so many more in England and the poor ones get the most (bad) publicity.

I've found that the Sunderland store have poor knowledge and understanding. One guy in particular tried to flog me some Yonex irons when I said they felt heavier than the other. He said more weight means more clubhead speed, yeah really that's why clubs are being made lighter as its this that produces greater speed. Personally I didn't like him and found him to be a smarmie salesman from my experience and how I've seen him with other people. I would not buy from him.
The other store in Newcastle seem more knowledgable, are pleased to whelp and are not pushy.
