just wondering if any of you have used items and then returned them for exchange, just cant get used to my long irons lie angle is all wrong always strike with the heel of the club, yet short irons are spot on

Richie, long irons are just harder to hit than short irons. As a newcomer its probably down to swing as opposed to the clubs, off 28 I know this as I struggle with 3 and 4 iron so have swapped them for hybrids, I do occasionally carry my 4 iron but only really use it off the tee.

I am sure someone will offer some tips for hitting long irons. Dont part with the Nikes, they are great clubs :)

take them up the range and try the ball slightly forward also you might be a little close to the ball so try standing a couple of inches further away

good luck

i dont know! i will ring them and ask to go up there hit a cpl sets but this time use alot more of the clubs only used the 7iron when trying out last time i did ask to try the longer irons but didnt get know where kinda regretting that fact now!

i have been to the driving range a few times, changed ball placement distance temp of swing and just cant get to grip with the 4,5,6 7 iron is more hit but still a fair bit of miss 8,9 and PW i hit nice alot

maybe you need some more forgiving clubs, not sure what the VR full cavity are like as game improvement irons.

I bet you will take quite a hit on them though cash wise

Its taken me about 20 rounds, a few lessons and lots of range balls to be semi-proficient with my 4 and 5 iron tbh, I still can't hit a bloody driver straight though :D

i bought them about a week and a half ago, hoping to exchange them for maybe the machspeeds, not sure where i stand cause i have used them but falls within there 30day returns policy

used the vrs for 3 rounds and 3/4 trips to the range

will give them a shout in the morning see what they say

It is not the clubs, it is your technique. Why do you think hybrids were invented?
3/4/5 irons are amongst the hardest to hit. Why do you think the pro gets you hitting a 7 iron when you have a lesson?
Why do you think the shops get you hitting a 7 iron when you look to buy a new set?
Because the 7/8/9 irons are the most forgiving.
Try this little trick....

Find a nice, easy little par 3 somewhere...about 130 yards will do. Make it an easy hole though. Not too many bunkers or hazards.
Take out your 8 or 9 iron, couple of practice swings and then put one on the green. See? It's easy this game. Nice easy swing. Nice "soft" grip on the club.
Now, go find another par 3. But this time make it a bit longer. Say 190 yards. Ideally with a lot of bunkers. And a lake to carry. You must have a lake to carry.
Pull out your 4 or 3 iron. Take the same couple of practice swings. Feels good doesn't it? Now hit the ball.
Notice how you caught it a little fat? If you didn't catch it fat, I can guarantee you caught it a little thin. Watch the ball fly. Nice and low and miles to the right, or straight up in the air with a big clump of mud following it. See how it splashes into the lake. Big splash. Feel yourself get angry. Did you also notice that your grip was tighter on the club? Did you notice that the veins on your forehead were sticking out a bit more and your face was contorted? Did you also notice that the nice smooth gentle swing you had with the 8 or 9 iron had disappeared? To be replaced with something resembling a threshing machine hard at work?
You did? Welcome to golf. And God bless all who sail in her.

:D :D :D :D :D :D

i have used them but falls within there 30day returns policy

I don't think their return policy covers your inability to get on with the longer irons ;)

If you go along the lines of part exchanging them against a new set, you'll get he haw for them as a trade in

give yourself time to get used to the new clubs, don't rush into this. It does take time to get used to your new clubs, everyone finds that out one way or another :D

spoke with them this morning and am popping in to get custom fitted, and any changes that need doing to the lie angle will be sent away and done for free, and whel thats happening i will be loaned a set of clubs to keep on playing!

think thats pretty good of them tbh

EDIT: i asked them about the risk of them breaking and he said im covered and clubs will be replaced if they happen to break

My advice would be to simply ditch the 4 iron and get a hybrid and a gap wedge (52 degree)

He is struggling with his long irons, what use is a gap wedge :D :D

Ha! Until they tell you you need different shafts or whatever then every bad shot you hit willbe down to the shaft and then you will JUST have to buy new clubs. :D

lol thought of this, my only cost will be the bus ticket into town!

they suggest shafts its a no lol once they have been custom fitted i reckon ill feel more confidence behind them and hopefully see an improvment not nice knowing you need the distance a longer iron gives you but know your gunna mess it up :(

well ive been and spoke with them and im 80quid lighter in the pocket and i cant be happier basicly spoke about the issue and the guy helping me was fantastic basicly a 30min lesson changed my grip alot really turn the left hand over and slightly closer to the ball resulted in me hitting the 4 iron alot better still heeled a cpl of times but noticed a difference strike pad test showed out of 5 swings im practly dead center only 1 showed a heel strike

oh and as for being 80quid lighter thats because i splashed out after pleading with HID to let me grab myself a hybrid settled on the nike machspeed #3 tried a cpl of others muzuno and callaway but i hit the machspeed off the mat and tee alot more consitently
